What beer are you drinking now? #1595

I'm turning my yesterday Birthday into a birthday weekend, lol

 

A Sixpoint Hi Res as I attempt to finish this BBQ chicken pizza at Tomato Bar. Some Smashing Pumpkins blaring on the sound system....

Didn't get a picture this time, but I'm currently finishing off a glass of Danzig Baltic Porter from Devil's Backbone. So glad I picked a six-pack of this up this year -- last year was the first time that I saw it released in stores (rather than being tap-only at the brewery) but I somehow missed getting some then. Well, I couldn't make that mistake twice!

But yeah... I'm not sure if it's just the alcohol on a mostly-empty stomach or if dark beer somehow has medicinal properties, but I'm feeling better now than I have all week (nasty cold/almost flu-like sort of thing.) Drinking this beer seems to have dulled the sore-throat pain more effectively than any pill I've tried, it doesn't even hurt when I cough now. Plus, it still tastes pretty good even when I'm sick and my senses are probably a little off, which is always a plus (I've found out the hard way that not all beers have this ability.)

Anyone in DB distribution area, I'd strongly recommend checking this one out before it's no longer in season -- it vanished pretty quick when its time was up last year, so I'd go looking for it pretty soon if I were you!

 

And so Friday begins. This looks and smells great. The mouth is silky and viscous. I guess I wanted a bit more robust flavor, but that's probably asking a lot of an oatmeal stout.

Kids were nutty on way home from school. I put this on and cranked it. Suddenly they calmed down. Whatever works and I did not end up in one:

Dude, the high octane stuff you sent me could mean an early night. BTW, the Lagunitas Imperial Coffee Stout was awesome. Gave me the courage, and the buzz, to get off my ass and light the fireplace.
