It's been a wild 3 weeks since I've been on here last.

    I lost my job
I got a better new job
I start my new job in 2 more weeks

Money is tight, but I did pick up some beer for this week  the 12 variety pack. When my income gets back to normal next month, I'll be back on IPA's and imperial stouts

One of my recent favorites. If you haven't tried their other beers, I recommend trying to get your hands on some. Fantastic IPA's, Porter, and Kolsch.

As for me this afternoon, I forgot how perfect this is:

Mrs. Z left me home alone with the pups so she could go shopping this afternoon; so what's a boy to to? How about side by side Sunday?!

I may have done a similar post last summer, but I'm happy to re-invent the wheel. The Founders is courtesy @cjgiant and the CW courtesy of @Number1Framer

Poured at 54 degrees. Both exhibit a brown (30) liquid with good dark beige, decent lasting cap; perhaps a tad more volume on the CW; nearly identical otherwise, same solid ring and moderate lacing; good clarity on both; the CW had some legs upon swirl (11%), but the F did not (11.2%)...first round identical in scoring (4.75) with the nod to CW (who doesn't like good looking legs?)...

CW: sweet caramel malt, bourbon, prunes and raisins. (4.5)
F: caramel candy, toffee and lite alcohol on the retro exhale; bourbon notes as it warms. (4.25)

CW: same as nose plus figs; dark fruit, sugared raisins, brown sugar and bourbon finish. (4.75)
F: same as nose plus bourbon, oak, and a touch of vanilla; a little boozy and a hint of bitterness in the finish. (4.75)

CW: medium mouthfeel and a tad sticky, though smooth and filling; some warmth; moderate minus carbonation. (4.5)
F: medium lite feel; some warmth; moderate minus carbonation. (4.5)

Overall both score a 4.5, and both exhibit the same prune juice color, cap, retention, clarity, and lacing. The nose is more full of bourbon and fruit on the CW so it scored slightly higher with me. The feel of the CW is more viscous and full, the F is more boozy. The heft may be less on the F, but it has more subtle layers of fruit, malt, whiskey and wood, whereas the CW is bolder in its presentation of sugary fruit, bourbon and malt, taste-wise. A split decision, and this judge...gives a wee heavy nod to CW!

    Cheers!

    First Oktoberfest of the season!

Love the black and gold label, but overall I like the ones from the last two years better. But still solid overall. Cheers!
