What beer are you drinking now? #1789

Saw this one posted earlier and it looked like a good idea . . .




Attractive golden red color with white cap and lacing.

Aroma of bready malt with a touch of something floral hoppy in the background.

Taste is malt forward in a caramely, toasty malty way with some overriding hop bitterness that goes just far enough to sorta match the malt. More than average carbonation gives it all a bit of bite. Finish is clean with some hop bitterness in the aftertaste.

 

Short's - Pineapple Pilsner.. cheers!

 

I purchased this bottle refrigerated and kept it cold in my travels until I got home. It had great carbonation and no off tastes whatsoever. I wasn't too sure what to expect considering the year, but was blown away by the experience. I just finished it and I'm amazed at the punch it still packed as well!

 

And a Samuel Smith's cider just to keep things in check.

Downshifting the abv. after that Pannepot Reserva. I'm no expert in the style, but this one from Revolution is really good. The price was nice too at 8 or 9 bucks a six pack.

To finish a wonderful experience, what better way than with a taste of their spoils...here we have one of my favorites of my time in Belgium, Cornet. This is a Belgian Strong Pale Ale aged on Oak...amazing!

Why am I being given the impression this is a Vienna style Mex lager? This seems to lean closer to Tecate than Negra Modelo.

A crisp easy drinking pale, but the Mosaic hops leave a lite bitter skunky/oniony taste in my mouth. From what I read on this site I'm in a small minority that find Some beers that use Mosaic hops oniony. Oh well...

I'm going to work on drinking down my 'fridge beers this week (our trip was cancelled/rescheduled to next week). We were lucky; our building never lost power, in contrast to the 288,000 neighbors in our county who are still w/out electricity. A poor excuse to reduce inventory, I know, but that's the best I could come up with when Mrs. Z started giving me "the look". Cheers brothers and sisters!

 

Bringing out my dead before I skip town soon. Bottled two months ago today, at least it looks good! Truth be told it doesn't taste a whole lot different than it did fresh and I wasn't enamored with it then. I'm feeling a nap coming after boiling away in the whirlpool for 25 minutes!

 

I love side by sides - can't wait!
