Drinking Special Brew 6.3% from Kopparbergs. It's pretty much a fuller bodied, slightly sweeter version of their regular 5.2-5.3% Export lager beers which I enjoy as a change of pace. The bitterness is slightly elevated along with the sweetness so that both are elevated yet balanced and there are some pleasant mild hop flavors. It has a houseflavor from the brewery and isn't as clean as Spaten is, but it's still a tasty beer imo. It is still clean tasting compared with the "extra strong" 7% abv category of beers which all of the Swedish macros participate in and where there aren't alot of winners flavorwise. At slightly over 6% abv the slightly higher than normal abv allows for a full flavored Export beer which is still relatively clean tasting imo.

 

This after Tired Hands Refreshing.

 

In the mood for something a little light and easy drinking. This Grassroots Brewing Artic Saison hits the spot.

I've noticed how Paulaner Oktoberfestbier and Weihenstephaner Festbier seems to have cornered the US market as far as pale Oktoberfest beers is concerned even though those two beers are quite dry, I think fresh Löwenbräu Oktoberfestbier could make a splash as a pale, full flavored, sweet, hoppy alternative festbier, if it was advertised properly and delivered fresh to market.

It has been over a decade since I was there and the pictures brought back some fond memories. Our youngest daughter went with us and she was just mezmorized by the scenery. Something she has never forgotten.

Strictly for science (because I am a beer nerd professional), I tried this in a glass .....

As you can see (pun intended), there are a LOT of floaties in this beer. I like floaties, but this was a blizzard of floaties, which may have influenced me when I rated this, because I rated this higher from the can.

Does anyone know if John Kimmich is a minority stockholder in Lord Hobo?
