I'm starting to count the days!

 

This one . . .



Dark black brown color with tan cap.

Aroma of roasted malt with coffee and cocoa tones.

Flavor of roasted malt and coffee on entry. Mid palate some dark fruit elements enter but quickly get pushed back by the stronger flavors. I don't get hops in the scent but find some in the flavor though it might do just as well without them. Aftertaste is more of the same.

Texture is medium with balancing carbonation.

A straight forward Porter with enough stuff to please a Guinness fan. Unpretentious and rewarding enough for what it is.

 

I never was a big fan of the black IPA style and barrel aged IPA's can be hit or miss for me. It may be the reason why I let this bottle sit around since receiving it as a birthday gift in April?

Stone corks always get the best of me, so I went straight for the channel locks in the tool box! This beer is actually pretty good with bourbon, vanilla, rye spice, char and oak in the finish. There's noticeable alcohol heat from the 11.6% abv. I'm going to let this warm up a little more and drop a review. Cheers to good beer!

@Snowcrash000 I had that a few months ago and was really looking forward to trying it. It was disappointing to me also,it came off thin if I recall and like watery chocolate milk. Glad it's just not me who thought so

Charlie Papazian says in his homebrewing book "Relax. Don't worry. Have a homebrew!" I took the advice too literally and relaxed (too much) had two (500 mL) homebrews during last month's brew day. It didn't go well. My 2017 barleywine is in the fermenter and all I have left to do is clean up and enjoy last year's vintage.

Things were a little more "scientific" today. Cheers!

Yesterday I had a short conversation with @Shanex while he was enjoying a Hollandia beer.

‘Never seen it around here. Hope it's not to bad’, were my words.

This afternoon I was waiting for someone finishing business in a value for money department store. Did some walking around and was surprised to see there was beer. And look … Unbelievable, and almost tempting for just 3 euro for a six pack

 

Epic Triple Barrel Big Bad Baptist at Iron & Glass. Holy crap is this good.
