What beer are you drinking now? #1869

Starting with a brewery fresh can of juice this morning. The Agent from Kettlehead.

 

Glad you enjoyed, they just released their 7th anniversary brewed with chocolate and sea salt let me know if you are interested.

The glass’s green label was embarrassed with all the attention last time I posted, so it’s shying away and checking out the scenery.

Finished shopping and scored a Sam Adams Winter pack. While that chills I'm having this . . .



Attractive clear amber gold color with white cap.

Aroma of sweet caramel malt, some bready notes and floral, spicy hops.

On entry it is malt forward but more dry than the scent indicates. This is a fuller, richer flavor than a run of the mill amber such as Yuengling (which is good but ordinary good) that elevates this beer to a higher level. Hops enter mid palate and while sitting pretty maintain a low profile as if they were the frame for a malt picture. Bready elements appear just before the finish which also brings a surprising but pleasing burst of hops leading the crowd into the aftertaste with enough bite to leave an impression of refreshment.

Medium-full texture with balancing carbonation.

Some good stuff going on here. Fairly complex for such simple elements, each singing their line individually yet all in harmony. Now where did I put those Brats.

 

Very average BA porter, IMO. Not much barrel flavor at all. However, at $14 for a 4-pack, it works.

 

While Tired Hands is my true neighborhood brewery, La Cabra Brewing is just further up the road and when it comes to hoppy beers they usually make some amazing stuff. Hipster Catnip is one of their best regular IPAs and I'm very glad to see that they decided to can some of it.
