Good evening BA, hope everyone had a good Tuesday. Woke up to a snow covered car before work. Slippery driving today, but not horrible. Pretty mellow work day, nothing too busy.

    Today's reviews:

Gin barrel aged Kolsch. Slight gusher opener. This was really nice! Aromas and flavors of lightly tart lemon, lime, pear, red apple, juniper, spruce, berry, ginger, melon, white wine, gin, oak, hay, straw, mint, and grass; with light notes of honey, cracker, white bread, oaken vanilla, pepper, and musty funk. Mild herbal/grassy bitterness, tartness, and yeast/oak/ginger/juniper spiciness on the finish. Medium-high carbonation, light-medium body, and moderately crisp/clean finishing. Balanced grainy malt, spice stickiness, oak tannin, and acidity in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing tart/bitter/spicy dryness. Refreshingly drinkable. Mildly increasing ginger heat through the glass. More of a Brett wild ale than a Kolsch. Not much malt presence. Nice fruity Brett complexity with balanced gin barrel/spices. Nothing overwhelming. 3.88

Awesome imperial porter! Fantastic head retention, thick lasting lacing on the glass. Aromas and flavors of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, toffee, brown sugar, spicy rye, brownie batter, fudge, toasted dark/brown bread, and nutty malts; with lighter notes of smoke, charcoal, molasses, licorice, dark fruit, and herbal/pepper/pine hops. Light-moderate herbal/piney hop, roast/char bitterness; and peppery rye spiciness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; very creamy/bready/silky mouthfeel; balanced sticky hops and chalky char/roast. Light-moderate increasing hop/char bitter dryness; minimal acrid roast or hop astringency. Very easy drinking, zero warming 7.7%. Very rich and well rounded malt complexity, with great chocolate presence, and balancing earthy hops. Kind of a dessert beer in a way, but the drying char bitter/spicy rye finish keeps it feeling American porter on style. 4.13

Very nice DIPA. Flavors of big grapefruit, tangerine, peach, pineapple, passionfruit, mango, melon, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, light pepper, and pine hops; with moderate caramel, toasted bread malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Similar, but muted aromas. Light-moderate pine, citrus rind, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; balanced creamy/bready malts and sticky hops in the mouthfeel. Some resins/rinds, increasing bitter dryness, no hop astringency. Very smooth drinking, mildly increasing warmth of 10%. Very nice mix of juicy, dank, and earthy hop complexity; good sized malt backbone, but not overly sweet/heavy feeling. Definitely a Midwest style type DIPA. 3.88

This was fantastic! Amazing lasting head retention and thick lacing on the glass. Aromas and flavors of huge juicy/tart/tangy strawberries, fruit jam/seeds, lemon, peach, pear, red apple, and red grape; with balanced wheat, bread, candi sugar sweetness; and light notes of hay, straw, grass, pepper, funk, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate fruit tang/tartness, lactic sourness, and light bitter/spiciness on the finish. Medium-high carbonation, medium body, and fairly crisp finishing. Balanced creamy/grainy malt, acidity, and fruit tang/tannins in the mouthfeel. Slight slick/syrups from fruit/sugars. Light-moderate increasing tart/sour/tangy and carbonated dryness. No puckering or astringency. Refreshingly drinkable, 4.1%. This reminds me of New Glarus fruit beers a TON. Super jammy and authentic Strawberry fruit presence; balanced sweetness and mild wild yeast notes. Never cloying. Definitely the best sweetened lambic I've ever had. 4.28

Oh, that may have been (unintentionally) misleading. Perhaps I should clarify. One of the beer guys at my local store had a friend who lives between Treehouse and Trillium. I gave my beer guy two M-43s and he gave me a Julius his buddy sent him. So technically, I picked it up a couple days ago at my local beer store. :sunglasses:

On a pretty blustery night I figured I'd bust something old out and this Void of Light foreign stout by Gun Hill will most certainly fill the bill. All chocolate, almost exactly 2 years old. Nice bitterness, really good.
