Replying to my own post, lameo I know. But....

Compelled to add as an addendum that my last swig from the snifter had a wonderful biscotti flavor. As with many stouts, drink when it’s at room temperature to taste all flavors. As always, ymmv.

 

Afternoon BA’s from the frozen land of B’more. I found this at a pizza shop just across the line in PA. I’m going to need more.

Today is the last day of the tree so figured I'd give it some screen time. A few Celebrations left from the holiday, today may be their last day too.



Day off so going to watch some college football before I start the tedious task of de-ornamenting.

Ticking off Finland tonight - Lapin Kulta Export, a 5.2% Lager-Euro by Hartwall LTD.
Crackers, bready malt, very lite sweetness, no DMS. A watery lager. Ok.

It seems Imagur is unable to upload pics indefinitely as many others have stated. So let us imagine:

Port City Brewing Company - Port City Porter (quite fresh, BOD of 12/15/2017)

...along with a modest little plate I prepared with; Cabot white cheddar sliced from a block, table water crackers, Trader Joes pumpkin spiced bread, and cranberry chutney.

So far this is not so bad, for my palate the bread and chutney really intensifies the roasty and chocolate taste of the porter.

I prepared the chutney from scratch with organic cranberries, organic delicious red apples (diced), raisins, apple cider vinegar, ground cloves, ground ginger, ground cinnamon, ground allspice, and granulated organic cane sugar. I used less apple cider vinegar and sugar than called for to take the excess sweetness and bite out of it. Cheers.

P.S. I will post pics later if the issue is resolved before the thread is locked.

Lapin Kulta is commercial there but a tasty, refreshing main-stay along with Karhu and I always have those handy when I visit family in Helsinki. The craft scene there is small but budding from what my Cousins have told me.

Rating 2016 vintage on 12-29-17

Pours pitch black. The head is 3 finger, tan, frothy, excellent retention, and nice lacing on the glass.
The nose is rich and malty. Notes of chocolate, and vanilla.
Taste - Rich, malty, vanilla, chocolate.
Feel is fairly thick.
Damn delicious, world class RIS.
