    I love how winter always reminds me how adaptable humans are. Two weeks ago it was cold at zero. After a week hovering between -40 and -10, 0 will feel like short weather (when it finally gets here)!

    Just a coupla drinks.

    I gave the gift of beer this (last?) year, and consequently I have the great fortune of splitting some big beers. Today, we're sharing Ommegang's 20th Anniversary brew, a bourbon barrel aged BSDA.

    I was a little worried this might have too much overlap with BBA 3P. That worry was warranted yet misplaced.

    This is a good beer - I had little doubt it would be - but ultimately it's a touch underwhelming, especially for a big anniversary beer (think of the FW series, which for me often surpass even Parabola and Abacus in quality, complexity, and depth). The mouthfeel is fizzy and hot, the flavors a touch muddled and oversweet.

    I'm enjoying it, and of course I'm applying a very critical eye - and I still gave it a weighted 4.0 overall.

    Having m-43 out of the can. I kind of get the hype on the second try. It's like a beermosa with a two hearted and pineapple juice. I know, a very simplistic breakdown on it. But I'm 5 beers in, so my notes are garbage.
