According to the press release: “a Belgian-Style Quadruple that was aged in both bourbon and pinot noir barrels for 28 months”. Still really boozy after three years in the cellar…

Slept on one couch while under the weather Jr slept on the other. Time for a wake up. Then probably back to the couch for a nap.

Good morning BA, have a great Saturday! Supposed to get some snow later on today, but should be a nice day otherwise. Probably going to make a beer run later on, haven't been down to Livonia in a while. Need to see what's new and exciting. Probably finish up my taxes as well. Finally got my W-2 in the mail.

2 year revisit, got a non contracted can finally. This was fantastic! Amazing lasting head retention and thick soapy lacing on the glass. Aromas and flavors of big tangerine, lemon, grapefruit, peach, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, berry, citrus peel/zest, light pepper, and pine hops; with some honey, biscuit, light caramel malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Moderate pine, citrus peel, herbal, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation/body and fairly crisp. Balanced bready/grainy malts and sticky/resinous/rindy hops in mouthfeel. Moderate increasing resin dryness, no hop astringency. Very easy drinking. Definitely an improvement over the 2 years ago can. This feels more dank pine/rind and juicy citrus/tropical, with less residual malt sweetness. Far more pronounced hop vibrancy. A little more aggressive on bitterness, but not overwhelming. More hazy appearance as well. Glad I was able to try it again. 4.23

Incredible again this year. Flavors of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, cinnamon, vanilla, cream, nutmeg, chile pepper, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, and toasted dark/brown bread. Light roast/char/spice bitterness on the finish. Medium-full bodied; great creamy/silky mouthfeel, with some sticky/chalky roast/spice notes. Lightly increasing bitter/spicy/roast/char dryness. Minimal pepper heat; no acrid roast or spice astringency. Balance is pretty much perfect between spices and stout flavors. Already grabbed 3 packs, but I will definitely get at least 1 more. Still plenty around. One of my top seasonal buys every year now; along with Born Yesterday and Death by Coconut. Love it with age as well, gets more silky on mouthfeel over time as the spices mellow out.

Awesome DIPA. Aromas and flavors of big tangerine, grapefruit, peach, pineapple, apricot, papaya, mango, melon, berry, lemon/orange peel, citrus rind, pepper, and pine hops; with moderate honey, lightly toasted bread malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus rind, herbal, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; balanced creamy/bready/grainy malts and sticky hops in the mouthfeel. Some resins/rinds, increasing bitter dryness, minimal hop astringency. Very easy drinking, mildly warming 8%. Nice change of pace with all of the NEIPAs they have been releasing. Classic West coast style, fairly aggressive but not overwhelming. Balanced juicy/dank hop complexity; nice bready malt backbone, with no residual sweetness. Not totally sure on hops. Maybe some Mosaic, Azacca, and classic C's. Glad I grabbed the full pack.

5 year revisit. Grabbed a 2 year old bottle off the shelf last weekend. This was amazing! Fantastic lasting head retention and thick lacing on the glass. Aromas and flavors of big grapefruit, tangerine, peach, raisin, plum, apricot, cherry, fig, lemon/orange zest, tobacco, and light pepper/pine hops; with moderate caramel, brown sugar, toffee, toasted brown bread, and light molasses malt sweetness; with some herbal, floral, grassy hop and yeasty earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel, herbal, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Light-medium carbonation and fairly full bodied. Very creamy/silky/bready malt mouthfeel; light slickness and sticky/resins. Lightly increasing bitter dryness. Never astringent. Dangerously smooth sipping, mildly warming 11%. Still one of the best American barleywines I have ever had. Perfect balance between citrus/pine hops, fruity yeast, and dark/bready malt sweetness. Never overly aggressive and completely prime time after only 2 years. 4.38

This beer is going to be listed in my beer tasting notebook under "magical." Thank you @beerloserLI! Here is a new song from Dimmu Borgir, which is my favorite band after Slayer. I hope this song somehow grows on me.

My first Barleywine. Been wanting to try the style for a while now and figured Bigfoot would be a good place to start. You know, I was expecting to like this, I'm quite a fan of American Red/Amber Ales, but somehow it just didn't click with me.

Let one sit for 5 years, or try an English barley wine for comparison. Completely different than what you just tried.

    Good morning BA
I thought I was going all out early, but @JamFuel beat me to it. Another cold crappy night at work and another homebrew stout/IPA mixer to erase the memory...
