Good morning BA, have a great Sunday! Supposed to get another significant snow event today, hopefully it doesn't get too bad. I'd rather not have work from home tomorrow. Friday was not a productive day with the VPN being down all day. Pretty much everyone stayed home, probably overloaded the server. Need to do the usual bottle return and grocery run for the week later on. I randomly lost a review count today, won't be trying to find what went missing; will just move on and keep reviewing as usual. Would be a waste of time.

Amazing IPA! Aromas and flavors of huge tangerine, peach, pear, apricot, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, berry, grapefruit, lemon/orange zest, and light pepper/pine hops; with balanced wheat, cracker, biscuit malts; and herbal, floral, grassy earthiness. Light pine, citrus peel, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation/body; balanced creamy/bready/grainy malts and sticky hops in the mouthfeel. Slight resins, lightly increasing bitter dryness, no hop astringency. Super drinkable from the mellowly bitter finish. Pretty refreshing, actually. Perfectly balanced dank, juicy, and vibrant hop complexity; nice sized bready malt backbone, with no residual sweetness. Definitely NEIPA on style with this one. Love the hop bill. Galaxy, Citra, Simcoe, and Falconers Flight. An instant new favorite. Grabbed a Batch 2 pack a few weeks ago. Hope this is year round now. Will keep on buying it.

Fantastic American barleywine. Flavors of big grapefruit, tangerine, orange peel, citrus rind, raisin, plum, fig, date, pepper, wood, and piney hops; with balanced caramel, brown sugar, toffee, toasted biscuit malt sweetness; herbal, floral, grassy hop and yeasty earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; very creamy/bready malt mouthfeel, fairly sticky hops, light slickness/resins. Lightly increasing lingering bitter dryness, no hop astringency. Mildly warming 10.2%. I used to only buy this to age and drink after a few years. This is really outstanding fresh as well. Not overly hoppy or aggressively bitter/drying like some others in the style. Definitely Centennial hops, balanced with fruity yeast and dark/bready malt sweetness. Very smooth sipper. Will grab some more for sure. A style classic.

This is amazing as always. Aromas and flavors of huge raisin, plum, fig, date, cherry, red apple, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, brown bread, vanilla, bourbon, coconut, toasted oak, and light clove/pepper yeast spice. Balanced sweetness and yeast/tannic oak spice on the finish. Medium-plus bodied; very smooth finish with nice creamy/silky/slickness in the mouthfeel. Light spicy yeast/tannic oak dryness, never cloying. Incredible balance between the barrel and classic quad complexity. Minimal warming ABV, no barrel booze. Well attenuated and not overly sweet. One of my favorite BBA Quads of all time. Grabbed a LOT of it this year. Was much easier to find, still some on the shelf in places too. Well worth the price. Hoping that Love Shadow gets the same distribution this year. They are their 2 best beers, but I am a fan of most of the lineup.

Fantastic! Glad these are in cans this time, smaller format. Aromas and flavors of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, toffee, molasses, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, dark bread, fudge, and herbal/pine hops; with lighter notes of raisin, licorice, smoke, charcoal, and coconut. Increasing booze in the aromas as it warms, but not overwhelming. Light-moderate herbal/spicy hop, roast/char bitterness; and mild bourbon/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Light-medium carbonation and fairly full bodied; very creamy, silky, velvety mouthfeel; lightly slick, sticky, chalky, and tannic. Slightly drying bitter hop/oak tannins. No acrid/astringency. Dangerously smooth sipping; mildly warming 14.8%, zero barrel booze. Spot on RIS style complexity, with amazing barrel integration. Reviewed a 2015 bomber a year ago, just as impressive here. Looking forward to other barrel aged cans showing up(hopefully).

GOOD SUNDAY MORNING WBAYDN GANG !!

Check out the mug I found at an estate sale .. lol

CENTRAL WATERS BREWERS RESERVE BA STOUT

Absolutely delicious stuff right here . I have to say though in having this today I’ve realized that this is closer to the Ballast Point High West VAS Imperial Porter (which I drank two cases of the past few weeks) then it is to the Carton Unjunct Stout I had last night .
The Unjunct is way thicker and creamier , however though this is a thinner stout it is full of flavor and a wonderful smell .
I guess being an occasional bourbon drinker I’m just partial to these dark barrel aged brews .
I’m going to pour this side by side with the BPHWVAS next time around and see how close they really are in look, smell and flavor .
In summation all three are terrific with the High West VAS being my favorite especially since they are all relatively at the same price point.

    HAVE A GREAT DAY !!!

I found two bottles of these hiding at a store recently, but there was no price on them . So I took them to the cashier hoping for good news as it sounds delicious . Then the cashier scanned them and gave me the bad news $17.99 a bottle .. Yikes !
I double checked if that was for both bottles or one ??
Sad to say I had to leave them at that price point :slight_frown:
    ENJOY !!

I also grabbed a Central Waters Scotch Ale yesterday, so I’ll probably add that to the Sunday lineup
They do make some amazing brews for sure .
Waiting to talk to the Manager to see if he can get me a case of CW Barleywine Ale as our BA member @GOBLIN is in need ,)

I was going to grab a bottle yesterday after all of the conversation recently about Trappistes Rochefort 10 . I hadn’t realized how much they have increased the price for it around here :slight_frown:
Fabulous one there for sure

Still trying to graduate a high schooler and get him off to college, so I have to watch the budget somewhat (crying)

    CHEERS !!

I like the Scotch Ale a Wee bit better than Dirty Bastard, and CW’s BA Barleywine is the tits, too. No duds in CW’s BA Brewer’s Reserve Series, imo.

Jr. still lives at home and now needs another year to graduate college, so I feel ya brother.

Good morning BAs! Today's New Breakfast Beer is another cellar dive and shortly will be a cross-post with NBS:

Damn good! Sorry I didn't make it yesterday - was supposed to take Mrs. Lizard to a bridal shower 'way the hell gone over the river and through the woods, fog, and freezing rain. At the last minute, a friend who was also going said she'd pick her up. By then, it would have been New Postprandial Beer.

Deep ruby gold color with small white cap.

Heavier, almost winey aroma of dark fruit laced with tart black cherry.

Well, this one tastes exactly like it smells. Still a sense of wineyness yet one with depth and richness. The ripe fruit element is just enough and the bright hint of cherry tartness elevates the whole well above average. It's tart but not overly so, rather a palate cleansing sort of tartness that's quite refreshing.

Happy Sunday BA's! Back from a 32 mile road ride on our new paved trail thru the woods. Still carrying about 10 extra IPA pounds but managed to pull a 17.5 mph average. Really enjoying this Central Waters Stout courtesy of @GreenBayBA! Gotta run a few errands, be safe and have a great Sunday!
