I like to decide for myself whether a beer is "crushable." There's no sense in crushing something that isn't worth it.

Bought this last week while I was in California, didn't see a date, asked shopkeep whom thought it was a fairly recent item. Now as I am drinking it, I read that it was last released in 2016 haha. Should have been tipped off by the political artwork. Oh well, can't really taste much, but it was cheap and it is cold!

    Cheers!

Good evening BA, hope everyone had a good hump day. Pretty mellow work day today, not many emails at all. Made my usual mid week bottle returns and mini beer haul after work. Nothing new today so I grabbed some old favorites. Starting to run out of new beers to review. Going to need to make a beer haul this weekend for sure.

    Today's reviews:

Excellent cream ale! Awesome lasting head retention and thick lacing on the glass. Aromas and flavors of wheat, cracker, corn, white bread dough, light honeyed malts; with light notes of lemon/pear/apple yeast and herbal/grassy hop earthiness. Very mild herbal/grassy/spicy bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation/body, and fairly crisp/clean finishing. Bready/grainy malts and slight sticky hops in the mouthfeel. Slightly increasing lingering bitter dryness. Clean lagering, not overly fruity/yeasty. Very flavorful/refreshing, 4.75%. Spot on cream ale all the way through, I love it. Clean malt/grainy corn flavors, with just enough balancing earthy hops. Will definitely buy again, this is a year round for them. Will be great when summer rolls around. 4.03

Excellent DIPA. Aromas and flavors of big juicy and lightly tart/tangy pineapples, coconut, tangerine, lemon, grapefruit, peach, pear, apricot, mango, melon, citrus zest, and light pine hops; with moderate honey, vanilla, creamy lactose, white bread malt sweetness; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Very mild pine/zesty/herbal/grassy bitterness and fruit tang/tartness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; creamy/bready malt/lactose; light hop stickiness and fruit tang in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing lingering bitter dryness, no cloying. Super drinkable, minimal warming 8%. Delicious dessert-like DIPA, tastes just like a pina colada as expected. Extremely juicy pineapple, coconut, and citrus/fruity hop complexity; sizable bready malt/lactose backbone, but not overly sweet/heavy feeling. Might grab this again. 4.05

This was fantastic! Great head retention/lacing for the style. Aromas and flavors of big tart lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, citrus peel, peach, pear, pineapple, red/green apple, melon, white wine, hay, straw, grass, peppercorn, leathery/musty funk, wet wood, and oaken vanilla; with moderate wheat/crackery malt balance and yeast earthiness. Moderate peppery yeast/oak spiciness and some lactic tartness on the finish. Medium-high carbonation, medium bodied, and moderately crisp/clean finishing. Balanced bready/grainy malt, lactic acid, and oak tannins in the mouthfeel. Moderately increasing acidic/spicy/tannic dryness, no puckering sourness. Refreshing drinkable, never overly lactic, 8%. Very similar to Black Label with a bit more malt body and oak presence. A bit higher ABV. Not as carbonated. Classic barnyard Gueuze Brett funk with balanced malt and oak. Got 3 others to try out from a gift pack. 4.25

Fantastic imperial stout as expected! Aromas and flavors of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, honey, caramel, wood, toasted dark/brown bread, and nuttiness; with lighter notes of vanilla, licorice, smoke, char, leather, tobacco, dark fruit, and herbal spice earthiness. Light-moderate roast/char and herbal/spicy bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; very creamy/silky/bready malt mouthfeel; light slickness, sticky hops, and chalky roast. Lightly increasing hop/char bitter dryness; never acrid/astringent. Dangerously smooth and easy drinking, minimal warming 9%. This is just as delicious as I remember the original. The wood foeder presence isn't as huge as I hoped for, but still noticeable. Very rich malt complexity, great honey/spice balance, and solid palo santo wood presence. Will be buying again for sure. 4.25
