Good evening BA, hope everyone had a good Tuesday. Another fairly mellow work day once again, nothing too stressful.

    Today's reviews:

Nice Pale lager as expected. Nice head retention/lacing for the style. Aromas and flavors of cracker, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit malts; and mild herbal, grassy, peppery hops. Mild herbal, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation/body, and fairly crisp/clean finishing. Bready/grainy malts and light sticky hops in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing lingering bitter dryness. Very flavorful/refreshing, 5%. Nice malt body for the ABV. Perfectly clean lagering, never fruity/yeasty. Enjoyed this quite a lot, very well made and spot on stuff for the style. Clean pils malts and mild earthy hop balance. Made sure to get a can before I reviewed this for obvious reasons. 3.68

100% Mackinac hopped DIPA. Tripel Root brewery. Less than a month old canning. Awesome stuff! Aromas and flavors of big tangerine, grapefruit, lemon, peach, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, citrus peel/zest, light pepper/pine hops; with moderate caramel, toasted bready malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel, herbal, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; creamy/bready malts and some sticky hops in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing bitter dryness, no hop astrengecy. Extremely drinkable, minimal warming 8.4%. Pretty unique hop variety, feels like a blend between Amarillo/Citra on profile. Super juicy hop complexity, with a nice dark/bready malt backbone. Not too sweet/heavy feeling. Definitely Midwest styled. 4.1

Passionfruit edition. Awesome! Aromas and flavors of big juicy and lightly tart/tangy passion fruit, tangerine, grapefruit, peach, pineapple, apricot, mango, melon, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, pepper, and piney hops; with moderate honey, light caramel, toasted bread malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Touch of booze in the aromas, but not overwhelming. Moderate pine, citrus rind, herbal, grassy, spicy bitterness; and light fruit tang/tartness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; very smooth, creamy, bready, sticky, resinous, rindy, and slightly slick/acidic/tangy balanced mouthfeel. Moderate increasing lingering resin/rind dryness. Slight hop/fruit astringency, but not overwhelming. Mildly increasing warmth of 12%, minimal booze. Aggressive yet smooth. Very similar to the base beer as expected, with added juicy/tart/tangy passion fruit flavors. A lot more haze from the fruit as well. Very juicy/dank/earthy hop complexity and balanced malts. Not overly sweet/heavy. Love the base and grapefruit a bit more, but still delicious. 4.1

Fantastic Gueuze! Great head retention/lacing for the style. Aromas and flavors of big tart lemon, lime, ginger, orange, grapefruit, peach, pear, green apple, melon, white wine, citrus zest, peppercorn, oak, hay, straw, herbal, and grass; with moderate wheat, white bready malt balance; light leathery/musty funk and yeast earthiness. Moderate peppery yeast/ginger/oak spiciness and some lactic tartness on the finish. Medium-high carbonation, medium body, and moderately crisp/clean finishing. Balanced bready/grainy malts, lactic acid, ginger spice stickiness, and light oak tannins in the mouthfeel. Moderately increasing tart/spicy/carbonated dryness, no puckering/astringency. Refreshingly drinkable, never overly lactic, 6%. Touch of lingering ginger spice heat through the glass. Haven't had Cuvee Rene in a while, but I love this just as much as I remember. Classic Barnyard Gueuze Brett funk with added Ginger spice vibrancy; nice oak presence and malt backing against acidity. This was a fair bit more pricey the the Cuvee, but very much worth it. 4.25

Good evening, BA's! Remember when you were a kid and beer was kind of an an exotic thing? Remember what it was like the first time you smelled a freshly-poured beer and how the malty aroma captivated your senses? Well, I'm happy to report that I have rediscovered that beer. This is Perla Chmielowa, from Perla Browary Lubelskie S.A., Poland. Paired with fish tacos:

New one from Fort Hill. More of a laid back DIPA. Not as fruity as Jigsaw Jazz but also not as alcohol. Still a very good beer for 10.99 a sixer.[IMG]

Ok - my last dalliance with this beer had the opposite effect, a little while ago. You’re piquing my interest though. Maybe I’ll torture the GF with half a 22oz if I find a good date.

Finally got some Wookus, although I'm still disappointed in FW for their handling of this release. It's not something I'd expect to have to go out of my way for . Very tasty, though, I'll give 'em that...

Oh, and @zid : look what I picked up down at Astor Place. 'Sfumato' is Italian for "like smoke", so of course that's the bottle I was going to gravitate to. But the best part is that it's unmistakable a smoky amaro- and it's amazing! What a wonderful world!
