What beer are you drinking now? #1968

Good morning BA, have a great Sunday! Hope everyone enjoyed losing an hour of sleep. Not much going on today. Just the normal bottle returns, laundry, and grocery run today as usual.

Awesome IPA. Aromas and flavors of big tangerine, grapefruit, lemon, peach, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, berry, citrus peel/zest, pepper, and pine hops; with moderate toasted bread, light caramel malt balance; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel, herbal, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation/body; balanced creamy/bready/grainy malt and sticky hops in the mouthfeel. Slightly resinous, increasing bitter dryness, no hop astringency. Refreshingly drinkable, never aggressive, 5.9%. Awesome balanced mix of juicy, dank, and vibrant hop complexity; with a nice bready malt backbone. Zythos, Centennial, Amarillo, Simcoe, Citra hops. Very impressive. Love the hop profile.


Incredible as always. Flavors of huge grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, berry, lemon zest, orange peel, and light pepper/pine hops; with wheat, biscuit, white bread dough, light honey malt balance; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Very mild pine, grassy, citrus peel bitterness on the finish. Medium-full bodied; bready/grainy wheat/oat creaminess and light hop stickiness in the mouthfeel. Slightly increasing bitter dryness, no hop astringency. Very dank and juicy hops, with perfect malt balance. Never overly sweet/heavy. Super easy drinking. Glad to have this as a year round available beer. They stopped making Boxer for some reason, but it will be back soon under some other name(hopefully soon). his one has been seeing batch improvements since I first had it earlier last year. Tasting exceptionally soft on the mouthfeel than the first few batches. Always in the fridge now, along with Boss Tweed which is the best NE DIPA ever made IMO. Need to grab another pack of this now.


2016 is tasting incredible. Flavors of huge caramel, brown sugar, toffee, molasses, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, coconut, brown bread, raisin, plum, fig, cherry, and date; with lighter notes of chocolate, leather, tobacco, smoke, and herbal hops. Light herbal bitterness and bourbon/oak spiciness against sweetness on the finish. Very creamy/silky/velvety medium-full body mouthfeel. Lightly slick, sticky, chalky, and tannic. Lightly increasing bitter/tannic dryness. Very smooth, minimal warming ABV, no barrel booze. Amazing barrel balance, perfect integration. Really glad this is going year round, but I always love it more with age. Still have tons of this vintage left.


Haven't had this in 4 years. This is awesome! Aromas and flavors of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, nuttiness, wood smoke, brown sugar, molasses, toffee, dark bread, rum, toasted oak, and light vanilla/raisiny dark fruits. Mild roast bitterness and rum/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Light-medium carbonation and fairly full bodied; with a very creamy/silky and slightly slick/sticky/chalky/tannic mouthfeel. Mildly warming 11%, zero barrel booze. Touch of bitter roast and tannic oak dryness. Really impressive balance and complexity of smoked stout and rum barrels. Outstanding barrel integration with no booze at all. Not the best Clown Shoes stout I've had, but still delicious.
