Tuesday early evening in hot and steamy Ho Chi Minh City. Trying some IPAs at the Heart of Darkness brewery.

First, a New England style IPA (yes, they’re brewing them in Vietnam too). This one is called Loose Rivet:

Then, a classic high bitterness West Coast IPA - Kurtz’s Insane IPA:

Great branding, Kurtz would be proud of the beer.

Anyway, cheers and enjoy your Tuesday. I can tell you that it ends well.

    Trust me.

Universal On All Planes, Other Half IIPA collab with Monkish Brewing, featuring Golden Promise malt, oats, wheat, and Vic Secret, Galaxy, Kohatu, Chinook, and Denali hops; 8% abv, 3/9 canning...

Similar to Yeah, from the Chairlift! but even richer, with more orange and pineapple and plush tropical fruit gushing across the palate - soft and smooth and tangy... Just another ridiculously good brew from Other Half (and Monkish)...

    Watching some Klitschko brothers stuff...

Well, this truly is different! The nutmeg really pulls through in this one. Kind of odd at first taste, but seems to grow on me as I continue drinking.

Overall, I am impressed that they pulled something like this off.

Very attractive slightly hazy orange gold color with lasting white cap and lacing.

Somewhat muted aroma of piney citrus with some ripe fruit elements. Not bad, just not much.

Taste on entry is citrusy hop forward leaning toward a firmer sort of bitterness. Simple flavors that run parallel without merging, every time I think I'm finding some malt, hops quickly overshadow the malt presence. Flavors are consistent throughout and last into the aftertaste.

    Medium texture with balancing carbonation.

Purchased as part of the experimental pack this is not the leader of the pack.

    Revisiting a classic today

My bottle shop discounts individual beers when you buy six. I stuck this one into my six pack to balance out the price of a couple BBA stouts. I believe the flavor/enjoyment per dollar factor makes this the winner. Cheers and enjoy what's in your glass today friends!

Boulevard Jam Band berry ale 5.9% with blueberry raspberry and cherry. Needed something besides ipa or stout. I wasn't sure if I would like it but I'm glad I got it. Not over the top fruity or sweet. It's a good beer.

Snowing like hell here. My wife and I are doing a George Clooney retrospective. So far we've watched Michael Clayton and The Descendants, with Up In The Air on deck.
