What beer are you drinking now? #2011

This was supposed to be a NBS beer, but life happens...

Short's uses black ink to bottle date and puts it down on the neck where I can never see it until I pour the beer. Bottled 2/20/18. I would like to try it fresher or stored better (purchased warm a couple days ago). Cheers!

8 month old IPA and under attenuated homebrewed stout. Nap after this and then nightshifts start tonight. Enjoy what's in your glass today friends!

 

Chose this for a rainy day . . .





Very dark brown color with tan cap and some lacing.

Aroma is primarily roast coffee with some vanilla highlights.

Flavor is dark roasted malt with more than usual accompanying roast malt bitterness. That's mostly what I get but it's not a one trick pony, rather it's two trick because the roast and bitterness are about equal. Brewer says the flavor notes are coffee, vanilla and bright pine. I certainly get the coffee, vanilla is more a feel than a taste and apparently there's a dark roast cloud covering the pine forest.

Medium full body with balancing carbonation.

Overall it's a pretty simple coffee sort of brew that carries bitterness to a new level. At 100 IBU I was expecting a higher than usual hop bitterness but hop flavors are completely covered up here by the dark roast tones.

 

Tremendous brew in all regards ..Hints of cherry coming from the barrel aging I’m guessing .

Beautiful day gang



Tremendous blueberry honey ale that packs a hidden 15 abv punch

 

1st really nice, sunshine filled day around here. Is winter over? Did some yard work and now relaxing on the deck. 1st day I could comfortably wear shorts outside, so I went with a summer beer for the occasion.

Oh, and the wind chimes finally get to come out of hiding. Here's one of them.

I'm heading to CA on Thursday so I figured it was only appropriate to drink the last CA beer @Bum4ever sent me (LOVE the label art), along with a "LA Street Dog" from my favorite local hot dog joint. I'll see if I get to compare it to the real thing...
