Good Morning NA drunks or Good Afternoon to our European brethern! It's a sunny morning but cold as hell here in NW PA. Well, I survived another 3.5 day conference in Pittsburgh and can finally post here again. Those sessions can be brutal! At least we hit Max's Allegheny Tavern three nights for dinner - excellent Americanized German food!
Today's New Breakfast Beer:
Really very decent brew but kind of odd - the peat and malt sort of cancel each other out...
Oh my friggin God is this good. Absolutely hitting it’s stride at 2 weeks old, this Sand City/Sloop collab is everything a DIPA should be. And, exactly what I need after another overnight. Cheers.
In Brussels for Cantillon/Hill Farmstead Quintessence (tomorrow). Moeder Lambic has a nice Cantillon list.
First up is 2013 St. Lamvinus! Cheers!
Drink’in the Sun from Mikkelller. A tasty alcohol free beer. No, really
Cuvée Moeder lambic - Cantillon Kriek. Cheers!
This is what I consider a must-buy whenever I see it and it never disappoints. Hitting the hay after this one, so good night all.
back into the Chicago shipment-stash. *burp* but hey at least WBAYDN has finally caught up to the present day. Live in the now, they say.
Now that’s a tap list - Cheers!
Yeah, I'm tempted to work my way through the entire thing! Kid in a candy store!
This morning ‘s coffee:
Light coffee and cocoa. Very good, but no where near the Caliber of the Pirate BOMB I drank last night. I’ve had 2 of the 4 deconstructed stouts so far, both were enjoyable, and way too expensive for a lightly flavored (coffee in this case) Imperial Stout. Next time I see a “deconstructed” beer for sale, I’ll likely “decline”.
I’ve got to start preparing the RV so I’m going to do a little this morning while it’s still coolish. Have a great Monday!
Fou Foune 2016. Amazing!
Wet Gravity by Foreign Objects
A pretty damned good cider...
Monday morning brew . . .
This is not, I repeat not, a tart white wheat ale. Far from it, the flavor is rich and smooth with rounded depth. A spicy orange flavor is prominent but carries a dryness all the way to the finish. The malt is almost caramely but that may be partly due to the orange which remains a constant throughout. Simple flavors well interwoven, in short a class act.
Good Morning BA
I'm treating myself to a second cup of coffee this morning after 3 hours of errands.
The fourth from the pack is just as good as the first! Enjoy what's in your mug today BA!
Strolled around Brussels a little bit:
Obligatory Manneken Pis pic:
I love the main square:
And now a great beer in the room before heading back out:
First a little citra pale ale and after a 2018's KBS.
Fresh kbs is clearly on the coffee side
Northern Method Dopelbock from Potosi Brewing Company in Wisconsin.
An excellent (and strong, at 8.5%) interpretation of the style.
Enjoying a Doppel-Hirch Dunkel (dark). This Doppelbock-Bier is more in tune with the weather we are having till now (rain).
Tasty start to a day inside...
4.25/5 rDev +4.2%
look: 4.25 | smell: 4.25 | taste: 4.25 | feel: 4.25 | overall: 4.25
Gentle pour yields a one and a half inch off-white head over an almost bright, slightly copper-hued golden body with some sticky lacing. Nose of funk and slight plum. Taste of sour and plum and very refreshing. Very nice carb and feel with a plum dry finish. Overall a real nice dry hopped sour. Cheers!
Round #2, but keeping it light.
Getting some things done around the house today before both kid's games tonight and work tomorrow...
This is a beautiful beer. The imports just don't move around here and never show up less than 4-5 months old. Cheers all!
Singlecut DDH Is This the Real Life
New Mama's Little Yells Pils formulation at Oskar Blues Colorado Springs...
Also briefly talked with another one of their corporate head brewers, Brian...
Flying Dog - East Coast Hop Project Rye Pale Ale.. cheers!
Oaky, tart, funk. I think because it's an older beer (9 months now?), I can't really taste the fruit anymore. If I didn't know it had peaches and raspberry in it, I wouldn't even have said it was fruited. But it's definitely good!
Melvin IPA on tap at OB in CS...
This is the Amarillo experiment. A little old but still very good. Taking advantage of this great day drinking weather.
Marshal Zhukov's Imperial Stout. The bad weather is a good occasion to open it. This one has been on my wish list for some years by the way. I finally ordered it online.
Na zdorovje !
I think it is one of the better Belgian wits.
Binge watching The Ranch on Netflix.
Drinking Melvin IPA.
Who's ready to get LARRRGE??? Cheers, advocates!!!
2018 fly sh*t. Technically late 2017, but the album just dropped last week. Posty...
Damn fine Wit.
Here's John's video from 6 months ago, the last time this beer was produced.
It held up real well and I'm going to try like hell to not crack open that last one. Cheers!
Very Tasty but I prefer with more bitterness
Although one review referred to this beer as "burro urine", I believe it's rather nice and superior to all the other Mexican beers I've had to date (except Modelo Negra).
This beer was brewed in January 2018 with an optimistic BB date of January 2019. Cheers!
