My friend, Yuengling is my go to beer when I tire of over the top ABV craft beers. Then there is the College connection. I will not go there but suffice it to say, a great beer for kids in college back in my day.

    Brewed for Wegmans:

Not too shabby for a grocery store beer.

Back home. Legs are shot. Haven’t had one of these in awhile. Miss that weedy, danky, herbal, piney, taste. I almost forgot how good this still is.

Dark sour with apples/cherries. This was excellent! Awesome head retention for a sour. Aromas and flavors of big sour/tart/tangy cherry, fruit skin, raspberry, cranberry, blackberry, lemon, lime, green apple, red grape/wine, oak, hay, straw, and grass; with moderate caramel, brown sugar, toasted bread malts; and lighter notes of pepper, leathery/musty funk, balsamic vinegar, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate fruity/lactic tart/sourness, fruit tang, and light yeast/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Medium carbonation/body; balanced bready/grainy malts, lactic acid, fruit tang, and light oak tannins in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing acidic/tangy dryness; lightly increasing pucker factor, but not overwhelming. Very smooth for 7%. Par for the course with this brewery. Great balance of Brett/Bacteria, fruit, oak, and dark/bready malts. A bit heavy on the vinegar, but it's never bothered me before. Very close to the Flanders red style. 4.03

Very good scotch ale. Great head retention/lacing on the glass. Flavors of caramel, brown sugar, toffee, wood smoke, toasted biscuit, brown bread, raisin, plum, fig, pear, apricot, and red apple; with lighter notes of molasses, nuttiness, roast, leather, tobacco, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast earthiness. Similar/muted aromas. Very mild herbal, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body. Creamy/bready/grainy malt mouthfeel; slight sticky hop and chalky roast. Slight sticky hop dryness. No cloying. Minimal warming 9%. Very drinkable. Pretty thin and not that rich for the ABV, but this was tasty. Well balanced dark/bready/smoked malts and English yeast, with mild earthy hop balance against sweetness. Well made for the style. 3.73

Just got it last month so I guess it's pretty recent. I got interrupted and didn't get to pitch it when I was going to. A couple of hours later when I got back to it, I tried it again, this time at room temperature, about 70 degrees. Most of the metallic taste was gone, so, cheap bastard that I am, I drank the rest of it. Still wasn't good but was at least tolerable.

Good evening BAs! Well, I'm approaching shut down time, so this tart bad boy has been elected cellar dweller to end today:

Thinking about knocking off work early tomorrow and heading down the shore. This brew seems appropriate. I'm savoring it more than the first can and really enjoying the apricot puree. Cheers!

It really is but it’s hard to justify a burner with no one here in the middle of the week. Great night though, I wish the entire summer could be mid 70s with no humidity.

Enjoying a Modern Times Ice Lager at Lefty’s Chicago Pizzeria. Not the best glass, but it’ll do. Cheers BA! Don’t worry, I had another one after this. LOL
