Unfortunately for me, it's just a regular day off ... this makes up for it though

 

Cheers!! I'm 'unintentionally' retired for the day - (freelance and it's a slow week) -
the heat-haze across the yard is intense this morning - find a way to stay cool !

couple pool beers yesterday had to pour one for Canada day

So this is a late one, and a long one, but we went to Washington DC over the weekend, and I had some good beers.

My first beer was a Commonwealth Big Papi. Unfortunately I didn't have a glass but I drank it straight out of the can anyway...



Had some Lawson's Sip of Sunshine in Wholefoods in Georgetown (and picked up a 4 pack to boot)



Then we went to Circa at Foggy Bottom and I had some Firestone Walker Union Jack IPA



Then we went to the festival on the national mall and I got to try an Armenian Lager called Kotyak



The next day we went to Shake Shack in Dupont Circle and I got a DC Brau Corruption IPA to go with my food



Then it was on to the Wharf that evening where I had some Pride Pils by DC Brau to beat the heat with



Finally the next day I went to Old Town Alexandria and hit Pizzeria Paradiso where I had 2 IPA's:

Stillwater Artisan Ales Strobe Lights (Maryland)



and an Ardent Craft Ales IPA X (Virginia)

I have had Big Papi a number of times. One of my favorites by the brewery. There is also a bottle shop nearby that carries it on draft for growler fills.

 

I picked up a 4 pack of it (well 3 now) and have it in my fridge

 

Yep - 4Noses Whimsy. Again. Perfect for breakfast of toast, eggs, and avocados. Game 1 was entertaining, Mexico played more aggressively but just couldn't find a way. Good for Brazil - should be a good quarterfinal match up ahead... assuming Belgium makes it easily..

 

Connecticut Valley's Fantastic Voyage IPA...

Features Columbus, Amarillo, and Simcoe hops; 6.5% abv; 6/9 canning...

 

The Party Pack arrived . . .



Flavor is malt forward with bright hops counter balancing the malt sweetness. Very likable, very approachable, rich without being heavy, spicy without being too spicy, just a beautifully balanced group of flavors which manage to be complex yet simple at the same time. Lingering aftertaste with just a bit of hop bite inviting another drink.

 

First you realize it then you smile. Welcome to the Land of Leisure.
