    Good morning, BA...

I'm drinking Bad Wallpaper, an IPA (6.5% abv) from Threes Brewing; 6/13 canning...
Floral aromas and citrus zest preview a grapefruit-forward IPA, dry and pithy on the surface but with an undertone of juicier tropical fruits... This beer is clean and fresh-tasting, moderately bitter, mildly sweet, and amply carbonated... I appreciate the subdued sweetness and the dry grapefruit pith bitterness... Supporting fruit impressions seems to suggest pineapple, guava, and lime with a nice floral edge... A very nice, refreshing beer...

    What's in your glass today?

    Cheers...

    Something classy and interesting . . .

Light to medium hazy gold color with beautiful white cap and lacing.

The aroma first hit me with the tart sharpness of wild cherries followed by ripe yellow fruit.

Taste on entry is far, far less tart and sharp as the scent indicated. Actually it's a very rounded and sophisticated presentation redolent of of ripe fruit that strikes me as more pear than banana but going in that general direction. Hoppiness is restrained and the fruit is backed by some spicy stuff such as clove. There's no hint of alcohol that I can detect.

Medium texture with higher than average carbonation.

This beer manages to be simple and complex, very low key without upfront kick you in the teeth flavors, rather a more subtle approach that both impresses and pleases

Mornin' - sometimes you win some, sometimes you lose some. Took a chance yesterday on an Avery El Gose and... not crazy about it. Part of it is the in-between style aspect of this "Gose" - which cuts the line between a Mexican Lager, and a more traditional (saltier) Gose. So this is neither lager-y nor Gose-ish enough for me. Like a poor attempt at adding lime and not enough salt to a Tecate. *shrug*
May have to give the second can a try this afternoon, but the other two are likely headed to boil some Hatch green chile brats I fortunately have waiting for my belly later on. So, all good. But yeah... sometimes... Now, on to another full half-day of football. I think Sweden and England move on, but Colombia could prove feistier than expected.
    Cheers!

As mentioned in earlier post, we are up all week at our new camp in Hamilton County, NY. By land area, it is the 3rd largest county in the State; by population it is the smallest ! There is no permanent traffic light in the County. Just down the road from our camp is the Lakeside General Store, which is small but jam-packed with anything anyone would need up here: groceries, camping supplies, bait & tackle, tools, etc. It has the only gas pumps to be found along the 30 mile stretch between the villages of Northville and Speculator. And ....they have a truly surprising selection of craft beer , for a small store in the middle of nowhere ! I can even buy stuff here that is not available back home in Albany. The only bottled Switchback beer that I can find in Albany is the Ale, the Citra Pils, and the 12-pack samplers containing those two, and one other. But up her I can get six-packs of Switchback "Connector" IPA and also this "California Common- style" beer, called Dampf Punk whatever that means :

So who else took the whole week off from work ? If I don't post again before tomorrow, I wish you all a happy & relaxing Independence Day. Don't let the current divisive political climate get you too down. There is no need to slap a label on your back, or anyone else's.

Here's to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness

(and right now, for me, that means a cold beer at 10am )

Rather nice IPA. Not 'soupy' at all.

With some supervision, Collaborations Are For Lovers...
3/28 canning... 16% abv imperial stout collab between Stillwater, Sleeping Giant, and Logan House (coffee)... I'm not sure how much of a fan I am, but the beer delivers on the advertised ingredients: mango, vanilla, and coffee... The coffee has a mildly roasted aroma with milk-and-sugar-added kinda flavor; mango's fruitiness come through on the nose and as a sweet juice on the palate; and vanilla weaves its way though all of this... The body is fairly light, sweetness at the fore, no real bitterness... Carbonation feels absent, and typical stout characteristics like dark malt roastiness are suppressed by the "mango coffee"... High abv is well-hidden... I dunno - probably not my thing, particularly for a stout: too thin-bodied, too fruity, and too sweet without much by way of bitter roast in counterpoint, BUT, not a bad beer, taken as a unique beer that doesn't conform to typical style expectations... Perhaps better suited to a DIPA format?

Pours a fairly clear golden color. It really isn't hazy, or murky at all, in spite of the name. There is a lot of carbonation in this beer. Tons of bubbles rising in the glass, and it is a very frothy 2 finger white head. There is quite good head retention.
Quite citrus smelling from the hops. Orange, mango, pineapple really hit hard.
Taste - is mellow, but at the same time, it does hit pretty good. Like the nose, there's a decent citrus flavor. Pineapple, orange, mango.
There's a very pleasant mouth-feel. Full bodied, creamy feeling.
Solid IPA, and another hit from Lift Bridge.
