Triple Secret Des Moines... a French triple. I’ve had it before. It’s pretty good.
It was supposed to be #2181...
Good Morning and Happy Hump Day BA!
on tap today is a fantastic milk stout that i was lucky enough to pick up during my last visit to Tree House Brewing..Miles To Go Before I Sleep..cheers!!
That looks delicious - Cheers!
Now that I’ve just finished it - I found it a bit too sweet and not as well balanced as the renowned Belgian triple. It’s still a good beer though.
Something new this hot rainy mornin’ - Dragon’s Milk Reserve Bourbon Barrel Stout w/ Cherry Chocolate:
I like, but I’m left wanting more...yes, it smells like cherries, and the taste is cherry/chocolate...but there is no richness about either. Instead it looks and drinks like a cherry cola, and I’d like more body in an 11% stout...half way through the snifter and I’m still looking for bourbon. I love cherries and this tastes good, I just want more of the barrel.
Wet walk with the dogs earlier; it’s probably an indoors day, watching the hurricane track straight for @Marklaker Be safe brother!
Good morning BAs! Another beautiful summer day here in NW PA - if the trees weren't shedding their leaves, you wouldn't know it's almost fall.
Today's New Breakfast Beer is:
This is a delightful IIPA/NEIPA from California and @Bum4ever in NBS BIF #8 - thanks Josh!
Cold, wet and snowy morning...feels like a brown ale kind of day...
Opened up a beer while preparing dinner. Have a few more in the fridge for tonight but starting off, somewhat, light.
Resting Brew Face from Mikkeller SD, 9.1% ABV New England IPA. Didn't enjoy it at first but it's growing on me. Lots of tropical and juicy notes with a creamy mouth feel.
Lunchtime beer. Hot and sunny here today, right around 80 currently. Nice to be soaking up some rays and enjoying a beer. Cheers!
Alvarado Street - Cool Runoffs DIPA ... I agree with @Ozzylizard above, this is a good one.
Platform - Like Versus Love NEIPA (can).. cheers!
Going with this . . .
Attractive shade of hazy gold that does look like orange juice, good white cap and lacing.
Strong scent of citrus hops in a good way with clean, fresh, vibrant scents.
Taste is hop forward with touches of ripe fruit interwoven with the citrus hops. A pleasing combination of the two with citrus overriding but not dominating the fruit. I really don't find malt in the flavoring sense but it's present in a supporting role.
Lagunitas Super Cluster
Ramstein Oktoberfest on tap fine brew.
I have zero motivation today! May as well open a bottle while I sit and stare at the fire. Bourbon County bottled on 09/17/12 is still boozy as hell with it's 15% abv. Some nice complementary dark fruit and oak too. I feared it may be going downhill, but it's very enjoyable on this cold Colorado day. Sending positive thoughts to all in the path of hurricane Michael.
Working out in my cave getting hunting stuff in order.
Enjoying a favorite from Snake River.
La Fin du Monde
Picked up a six yesterday . . .
Deep, rich amber gold color with white cap and lacing.
Aroma of caramel malt dusted with spicy hops. That doesn't sound like much but malt is strong in this one.
Flavor is malt forward with great depth and complexity. It isn't just malt, it's malt personified with a wieldy room filling presence. I quite like it and this may be my eventual choice over those that preceded it. Sweetness is present yet in a restrained way that complements the flavor profile rather than being a defining influence. Hops are there like Rococo flourishes on the edge of a large gilded frame which is to say they're noticed but don't really draw attention away from the main picture.
Finally dinner is ready and the beverage of choice is a good not too heavy stout.
Sundby Stout from Amager Bryghus at 6.2% ABV. Half of it went into dinner, the other half went into a glass. Had a go at beer-braised pork cheeks and it is delicious!
Bonne appetite and cheers
Lagunitas Dark Swan
Pipe Dream Galaxy Hoppin’ 9% DIPA not sure when it was canned, but very recent. Pours a slightly cloudy dark orange with a finger plus sticky off white head that leaves a thin wall of lace as it slowly settles. 4.25
Smell is apricot, tangerine, caramel, pineapple, and grapefruit rind. 4
Taste follows apricot and tangerine start the party, with some pineapple and grapefruit in the bold, yet balanced finish. 4
Mouthfeel is big and sticky, soft slightly gritty mouthfeel, with enough carbonation, and bold flavor that still drinks easy at 9%. 4.25
Overall this is a East/West Coast highbred for me, bold tropical flavors with some bite. 4
Rain out at work today and since my maid & I are in a dispute over who's the father of her child....I'm doing my own housecleaning this afternoon.
What goes better with housecleaning than a beer? A maid, that's what!
Earth Rider - Precious Material Helles
Raconteurs - Like at Irving Plaza NYC
Mrs. Z has caught a cold, so I made her some chicken noodle soup (quick and easy trick - boil several pieces of leftover fried chicken for your base liquid/flavoring!). Back from the pharmacy and ready to drink beer - Jai Alai this blustery afternoon:
Decided this would work well with the last one and I was correct. Old school DIPA.
What fish are you hunting with that hook?
A round of golf after a week off. Not great, but I won all the money.
tornado alarms going off outside, still have power for now. this must be an old bottle everything but the chocolate and the coffee is gone from the flavor.
Cleaning out some stragglers this afternoon.
It's a thankless job but someone has to do it.
Werk Force - Ol' Pile
White Stripes - Live at The Magic Bag
On the balcony with Jai Alai #2. It’s 86 degrees and 90% humidity...I feel for the folks who have lost/are about to lose their electricity.
Good thing there is a strong breeze today or else I wouldn’t drink outside. Best wishes for a speedy recovery to all in the panhandle and SGA!
FW Union Jack - Cheers !
Trapezium Salted Caramel Brown c/o As Shucks in Norfolk
Finishing off the last of my Demon Dwellers as we speak. I would commit dark deeds to get this in a six pack.
Pretty good tap list at my local joint... as much as your boy loves ticking, when he sees it, you know he gets it...
Pliny the Elder:
My only gripe with my local spot is the thimble size tasters.
J Wakefield Haterade as I continue with my Pliny:
Finally home and ready to start relaxing. Starting with The Check Please, a wonderfully fruity black IPA from Evil Twin.
