At Jack’s Abby having a couple of post 5k beers with my wife. She’s having a flight, and I opted for Springdale’s DIPA Clerical Error....and of course a charcuterie for some post run substance!

Joining friends and family for a winery/brewery farm outing. Barrel Oak just put in a brewery just under two years ago. I liked their BOFT IPA then, so I got another one this year:


It’s not a world class offering, but it's a solid citrus, pithy bitter old school IPA with a decent malt backbone.

I’ll have to see which IPA of theirs medaled at the Virginia Beer Cup. I think maybe this one. Maybe the one the GF is having (forget name Whistling or Winding something-or-other), which is a more juicy IPA.

Rain caused all but one game to get cancelled, excellent job weather people. Please clear so we can at least enjoy the Pumpkin Fest and eat some food that will be terrible for us, before watching The Sox tonight. This stuff is tasting much better than the other day. Apparently mood can have and effect on my palate.

BOFToberfest is actually a decent representation. Slightly sweet, mostly malty with just a little hint of spice. Could use a little more hop influence or be a little more dry, but I’m not opposed to possibly grabbing another later. GF is joining her friend in their Cab Franc.

The family has returned from market. Mrs. Z is sound asleep on the couch with the dogs. Jr. Is snoozing in his hammock - can’t say I blame him as it is a glorious 84 degrees, 66% humidity and there is a cool breeze...I’ve moved on to a brown ale - Hi-Wire Brewing’s “bed of nails”...



Tastes fine, but it is such a snow globe that I’m visually off put and reticent to put the glass to my lips...and yet my inner @vabeerguy whispers, “It’s just beer, drink up and stop whining...!” Cheers virtual bar mates!
