Visiting a new beer style over lunch. When I saw this on the tap list, I figured I had to take a slightly long lunch.

It’s been a while since I’ve been in this thread, but today I took a picture of my beer so I shall post it here.

2018 CBS that I just acquired a couple days ago. I’m a big fan of maple syrup, maple stouts, chocolate, coffee, and bourbon barrels so I expect to love this beer. I had the 2017 last year and while it was really good it could’ve been a little better (like most things in life). Anyway, I was eager to open this year’s version to see if my initial reaction is better than it was last year, and while it could still be a little better imo, I think I might like this a little more. I did let mine sit a little bit before opening it last year so this one is slightly more fresh than my CBS last year. Right now it’s tasting pretty robust and roasty, almost smoky with huge dark chocolate and coffee notes, big maple syrup that might be a little less sweet than last year’s, a hint of dark cherry, some vanilla oak notes, and a touch of bourbon in the finish. I did not refrigerate this bottle, so it was bought off the shelf, stored in a not so warm room and then opened. This beer is still really awesome to me, and the fact that it’s making it’s way around the country and world is pretty impressive I think. Big maple notes, lots of chocolate and coffee, slight bourbon, oak, it is as advertised. Yeah it’s kind of expensive but still cheaper than most of Evil Twin’s maple bourbon stouts. :stuck_out_tongue: I’ll pop the 2017 soon to see how I think that has aged.

    Cheers everyone!

A productive morning that included a trip to the dog groomer, oil change, house cleaning and finally a beer with lunch. Going nicely with the leftover chicken and rice from yesterday.

Sierra Nevada Celebration Fresh Hop IPA 6.8%. First one this year for me. Definitely tastes fresh. I'm not much of a SN fan but for some reason I just can't pass this stuff up. I would have bought the winter mix pack but it didn't have celebration in it. I'm glad I went with the 12 pk anyways. I'm going to need a couple more of these by thanksgiving.

This is canned 9/30 and tasting fucking awesome. Charcoal smoke, chocolate licorice, roasted malts. Very happy to find a fresh 6-pack of this. Hey, jury duty lasted all of 3 hours. Guess I gave the wrong (right) answers.

While looking at the countries I've sampled beer from I was a bit surprised that I hadn't had any from France. Consider France "ticked".
