Good morning and happy last day of the year, advocates.

I’ve been on these forums for three years now which has surely been a blast - and will continue to be.

Only met one BA in my time here, in person for an also IP trade. Willing to meet up with more in the future.

So, have a great NYE with your family or friends or both. Bless your loved ones...

2011. This is tasting fantastic. Awesome head retention/lacing for the ABV. Aromas and flavors of huge dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, molasses, toffee, raisin, prune, cherry, fig, date, licorice, roasted nuts, and toasted dark bread; with lighter notes of smoke, charcoal, wood, leather, tobacco, pepper, herbal hops, and yeast earthiness. Some booze in the aromas as it warms, but not too overwhelming. Light herbal, roast, charred bitterness; and peppery alcohol spiciness on the finish. Light-medium carbonation and fairly full body. Very creamy, silky, velvety malts; light slickness, sticky hops, and chalky char/roast in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing lingering hop/char bitter and spicy alcohol dryness. No cloying, acrid, astringency. Dangerously smooth sipping. Lightly increasing warmth of 18%, mild lingering booze. Fantastic balance of rich malts and fruity yeast complexity; with solid earthy hops against sweetness. The newer batches are far more tame on the alcohol/booziness than these earlier batches for sure. Aged well though.

Breakfast with Little Soldier from Ahnapee Brewing.

Also, included in this is something @jdell15 sent me in the BIF #8 as the food item - Sloe Gin jam. I normally don't put anything on my pancakes or waffles, but it does add a bit of zip to them.

Thanks for sending it to me.

Fantastic batch this year as usual. Aromas and flavors of huge nutty dark roasted coffee, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, molasses, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, and dark bread; with lighter notes of coconut, licorice, raisin, prune, cherry, fig, date, smoke, charcoal, leather, and tobacco. Light-moderate herbal, roast, charred bitterness; and bourbon/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Light-medium carbonation and fairly full body. Very creamy, silky, bready malts; some chalky char/roast, and oak tannins in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing hop/char bitter, bourbon/oak tannin dryness, no acrid/astringency. Smooth sipping, mild increasing warmth of 12%, minimal lingering booze. Feels more bitter/drying than the last time I had it, but still delicious. Awesome balance of rich malts, fruity/nutty coffee, and bourbon barrel presence/integration. Glad the whole series is shelf beer this year, and in cans.

First beer of the last day of 2018, Feels Like Outer Space by Other Half. This is maybe the perfect visual representation of a NE IPA, beautiful to look at. Cheers, BA, and have a safe New Years Eve, with plenty of good beer!

Awesome batch this year as always. Lasting head retention/thick lacing the whole glass. Aromas and flavors of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, light peppercorn, and pine hops; with balanced caramel, toasted bread malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation/body; balanced creamy/bready malts and sticky/resinous/rindy hops in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing resin dryness, no hop astringency. Amazingly drinkable. Super juicy and fairly dank/earthy Chinook, Centennial, Cascade hops; perfect bready malt balance, not overly sweet/heavy feeling from lingering resin dryness. I love C hops all year, the fresh hops are very obvious with the herbal/spicy quality going on.

Westmalle Trappist Tripel is the order of the day around here. Apricot, bready yeasts and a light spiciness are the flavors. This beer is outstanding. There are a lot of American breweries making tripels. This is what they hope to become when they grow up. Those monks sure know what they're doing.

Good Morning and Happy New Year, BA!

Kicking things off with the latest annual release from Firestone Walker. The gin barrel Helldorado comes through with prominence and I am really enjoying it.

I am starting this special day off with an espresso milk stout, while my daughter enjoys her Day of the Dark prizes. She is very grateful, @LeperJim! The name of this Surly beer is Grindcore. Grindcore is a genre of heavy metal, which is known for short songs and very rapid drum (blast) beats. The most noteable band in the genre is probably Napalm Death. Here is Jim Carrey discussing that band, and the genre, then here are some choice selections of their songs.

Amazing batch this year, as usual. Flavors of huge cinnamon, mint, nutmeg, ginger, clove, vanilla, coffee, cream, and chili pepper spice; with balanced milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, fudge, caramel, brown sugar, molasses, and toasted dark bread malt sweetness. Mild herbal/spice and roasted bitterness; touch of char. Fantastic creamy, silky, velvety, and rich full body mouthfeel. Slight sticky spice, chalky roast, and increasing dryness. Dangerously smooth, minimal warmth of 13% or lingering pepper heat. Super rich and decadent. Perfect balance of spices and rich stout malt flavors. One of my favorite spiced stouts along with regular Bomb! Will grab more than I already did so far.

Been in the kitchen since yesterday preparing dinner for New year's. We're having some friends over in a few hours so I'm stressing a bit and figured a beer would help.

Tradisjon 2017 from Nøgne Ø at 7% ABV. Packed full with flavour. Sweet, acidic, a bit boozy. Delightful beer. Hope you all have a great new year's eve!
