A fine yet rather pedestrian double NEIPA...

Look, it has a fine appearance but everything else is kind of same-ol' same-ol'. And this is not a bad thing, just nothing to get overly excited about. It's a solid, well-made beer. And I'm good with that...

A little cleanse as the excitement builds; both in the Charger v Raven finish and for the Bear v Eagle tilt.

Michigan Maple Jesus while I watch the Chargers self-destruct. Oops, spoke too soon. Ball's out, Chargers recover. Game over, unless they figure some way to blow it in victory formation. Nope, they're good. Anyway, this stuff is outstanding. Cheers!

I remembered this fondly for some reason, but the revisit turned out quite disappointing. While this has a nice, nutty toastiness to it, that is somewhat overshadowed by notes of diacetyl, corn and glucose, not to mention the rather thin and watery body.

Beer #5 and it's time for the E-A-G-L-E-S game. Jim told me it was OK to have this many. He said: "Hunter, you're now entering a phase of enlightenment. Don't be afraid to let the doors of perception blow your mind." Cheers.

    NBS X-Post #1

My 2019 goal is to get to 9000 beers. I had 1640+ in 2018 so it's a possibility. 7800 is today, and I got some nice hauls last couple weekends to keep me busy for a few weeks. Still working out clearing out overstock stuff to get all of my stash confined to just one closet. Need to manage a stricter budget this year.

    Beer:

Great AAL. Great fluffy head retention/spotty lacing. Aromas and flavors of cracker, corn, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit malts; with some herbal, floral, lemon citrusy, light peppery hops. A bit of muted/fruity corn aromas, but not overwhelming. Light-moderate herbal, floral, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium-plus carbonation, light-medium body, and moderately crisp/clean finishing. Bready/grainy malts and some sticky hops in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing bitter/carbonated dryness, no cloying/astringency. Perfectly clean lager flavors, no yeasty notes. Very flavorful/refreshing, 5%. Not watery at all. Very clean and nicely rich pils malt/grain showcase, with nice earthy Sterling hop presence/balance. Not overdone on adjuncts. Will be an awesome summer beer, nice for the year round availability. 3.98

Russian River's Blind Pig IPA courtesy of the generous @Bum4ever. I just reviewed it on the NBS thread. It's the antithesis of a NE IPA: crisp, clean, and intensely bitter. A wonderful beer. Thanks, Josh!

A brewery near me is undergoing a similar expansion and I have noticed their flagship brew begin to fall off considerably.

Cheers! It's my birthday and for my birthday I wanted to get away from anyone who knew it was my birthday. So what better place to go if you live in northern Indiana than the Dunes State Park? Didn't even have internet for waze until about a mile out. Couldn't make up my mind on what beer to drink when I got home so went shopping for something light to drink after eating Chicago Style Hotdogs. Decision not to stop at Three Floyds paid off (for the owners of the store). Came home with exact opposite of a light beer.. Anyway it doesn't fit in fridge so guess I got to drink it. Nothing like seeing a city of 9 million people look like an ant colony from 30 miles away to make you realize birthdays ain't shit. Now to watch that Ice Age movie or something?
