My lovely wife took me out last night to see the amazing Tommy Emmanuel at the City Winery - good food - $15~20 glasses of wine - they had a bunch of beer selections in bottles and cans -$8~9 - and 2 taps - Radeberger and Five Boroughs IPA ($10) -I ordered the Five Boroughs and the waitress brought it over, and served another to a table near us - after the first sip I knew it wasn't the IPA , (and I don't think it was the Radeberger either) - after telling the waitress that this was some kind of lager beer (trying not to sound like a dick about it), she commented that she had suspicions because it didn't 'look' like an IPA - well ok - she took it back to the bar and came back with the right beer, saying the tap handles got mixed up - and also changed the beer on the other table before they even knew it was the wrong beer ! Very cool - and the show was awesome - if you've never heard of this guy, I highly recommend...

I'm going with a Stone Ruination DIPA. It looks gorgeous. It smells awesome and the taste follows the nose. Just awesome.

    Cheers!

Today is the 99th anniversary of Prohibition going into effect. This thread better go nuts today just for the sake of irony.

Your photo isn't showing up for me. I always post the beer I'm drinking (in text) below the picture just in case that happens to me, so people still know what it is.

Light gold color with small white cap.

Mild aroma of bready malt and slightly spicy hops.

Taste on entry is mild malt and somewhat firm, spicy hops. The hop level is listed at 28 IBU and it shows, clearly outreaching the malt. There is a bit of fruitiness by mid palate yet the whole remains dry.

    Medium texture with balancing carbonation.

A competent yet unremarkable Blonde Ale.

This has been sitting in the fridge for a few weeks now and I finally got around to drink it. Tried it before when it was really fresh and it's still (almost) as good. Going to London in two weeks time and already planned a visit to the brewery. Can't wait!

Having a great visit with family. Did Trivia Night last night at The Toad and finished fourth out of fifteen. No prize money, but lots of fun. Today we're taking it easy. We're watching the Streisand/Kristofferson version of A Star Is Born, then some card games for later.
    Enjoy the day!

[IMG] [IMG] Poured into a 13 Snulip glass at Kettlehead. Pours pitch black and yielded a solid finger dark tan head that settled rather quickly and left some thin streaks of lace. 4

Smell is bourbon and oaky charred vanilla, dark chocolate, dry roasty coffee grounds, pipe tobacco, leather, and again did mention some alcohol vapers? 4

Taste follows bourbon and dark chocolate immediately hits your palate with some coffee, vanilla, tobacco, char, leather, and some nutty toffee sweetness. 4.25

Mouthfeel is bigger than average, the correct amount of life, it says 10.5% and truly believe it is bigger and definitely drinks bigger than its ABV, but is so darn complex it is very approachable. 4.25

Overall I am digging this one more than the first version, mouthfeel is bigger and the flavors all jell this time around much better. Excellent BA Stout.4.25

Well this is a good afternoon. I'm having a 2017 BCBS. It is freaking awesome this time, just like every other time before. These folks REALLY know what they're doing.

I really enjoyed this beer when we met up with you at Kettlehead.
Hear you might be having a big snow storm this weekend. Stay warm and safe.

Doc it looks like it will be a Blockbuster Storm. As the Pats play and as you most likely see, big sporting events are watched my brother’s house so going to be a little annoying to have 30 possible inches of snow around game time. Cheers my friend and enjoy your decision to get out of NE. Some good snow beer pictures coming soon.

Straight forward brown ale from Danish brewery Krenkerup. Dark and malty with a bit of sweetness. Although nothing mind-blowing it's a balanced and well brewed beer. Like everything else from these guys. Cheers!
