Hello BA! I've been wanting to try some N/A beers for a while since I realized I've never really had one. So, I picked up several this morning, and this is the first of them. Smells ok, considering what it is — sorta like a crappy pilsner. Taste is weird. Not even sure how to describe it. I guess I do the hop presence, but this beer is not really bitter (fwiw it's supposed to be 29 IBUs). Super watery on the body, Definitely not something that I will be drinking again, but I'm glad that I get to satisfy my curiosity.

    Cheers!

Got some age on it! Question. I bought two cans of an imperial stout brewed locally. Can they age well? At ten dollars a can, I do not want to make the wrong decision.

    Thanks for any advice.

A rather nice Baltic Porter that's a bit on the dark/red fruity and hoppy side, but well-balanced all in all.

Well, BA’s, I have no idea what this beer is. I ordered a Riip Super Cali IPA, but what I have is more like a copper hued ale. If it was bad, I’d take it back. But the bar is packed and your boy isn’t struggling:

*edit After during research, what I think happened is the bartender took “Riip” for “Red,” and I got their house Amber. The reason why Raul believes that is that the Riip is $7 during happy hour, while the majority of their house beers are $5 or under -and I was charged $5). It’s not bad. So cheers!

Both are aged in bourbon barrells. One is a coconut stout. The other is a vanilla stout. Both are 11% ABV.

If it helps, I can find the distribution description. Both are brewed by Triple Crossing and were part of their releases about two weeks ago. I am new at this although not new at drinking beer.

I have three BCBS that I understand I can age. One is 2017. Two are 2018.

Thanks for any help or advice. Not holding you to anything.

It's tough when you only have one of each beer. Two is great, because you can age one indefinitely and drink one fresh, and compare. So with that said, I'll say that my aging philosophy goes against some here (general consensus if you have one of a beer, consume fresh).

At 11%, it's a bit of a toss up, as that level of alcohol can preserve a lot. In addition, beer that has spent time in barrels tends to flatten out (to an extent), so aging it may flatten it out further. Should you not like really still stouts, I'd consume both fresh. Should you want to age, I'd say drink the coconut one now and then age the vanilla. Vanilla is, typically, going to hold up better to aging than coconut.

Then again, if you're interested in comparing the stout with the different additives, I'd consume now just for a fair and even comparison.

Aging beer is a fun game, but sometimes the experiments and time don't improve things. I hope this helps.

    I do my best. Cheers!

Funky Buddha Morning Wood, their bourbon barrel-aged stout with maple syrup. It's incredibly sweet but not cloying, more like a decadent dessert.

Look like i combined a couple of posts. Again.

Anyway, thank you for the advice. I thinlk I will drink the two TC stouts on the next two cold nights and save the BCBS stouts for another day.

Again, thank you. I learned a lot.
