[IMG] A local coffee stout only 5.1% but very attractive and a ton of flavor for the ABV. Cheers all.

Prairie Artisan Ales/Evil Twin Bible Belt, 13% ABV. Pours black with a half-finger brown head. Nose is coffee, chocolate, and vanilla. Taste follows, plus peppers, with a slight bitterness. Decent mouthfeel, overall very excellent to near-outstanding. Essentially an Evil Twin Even More Jesus mixed with a Prairie Bomb.

Fantastic batch this year. Aromas and flavors of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, fudge, marshmallow, bourbon, coconut, toasted oak, and dark/brown bread/crust; with lighter notes of molasses, licorice, raisin, plum, fig, date, smoke, charcoal, leather, tobacco, and herbal/grassy hops. Touch of booze in the aroma as it warms, but not overwhelming. Light-moderate herbal, grassy, roast, charcoal bitterness; and bourbon/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Medium carbonation and full body; very creamy, silky, velvety rich malts; some sticky hops, chalky char/roast, and oak tannins in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing lingering bitter/tannin dryness; no cloying, acrid, astringency. Dangerously smooth sipping, mild increasing warmth of 12%, minimal barrel booze. Amazing balance between rich malt complexity and bourbon barrel presence/integration. Feels a tad thinner, and a bit more bitter/tannic/drying than the 2017 14% batch; but still spot on stuff.

Omnipollo Fatamorgana. This was fantastic. Nice rocky head retention/soapy lacing. Aromas and flavors of big tangerine, orange juice, red grapefruit, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, gooseberry, citrus peel/rind, light pepper, and pine hops; with moderate wheat, cracker, white bread dough, light honey malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Light pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; creamy/bready/grainy malts, some sticky hops, and light resins/rinds in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing lingering bitter dryness, no hop astringency. Dangerously smooth for 8%, almost refreshing. Great soft feel. Not as amazing as I remember when I first reviewed it 4 years ago, but still delicious. All Citra, Centennial, and CTZ hops. Super juicy, vibrant, and fairly dank/earthy balanced hop complexity; with a nice bready wheat/oat/malt backbone, and minimal residual sweetness from lingering resin dryness. Delicious spot on NEIPA style. Was the first one I ever had originally. 4.25

Outstanding as usual. 22 months aged. Great head retention/lacing on the glass. Aromas and flavors of big sour/tart/tangy cherries, fruit skin/pits, lemon, green apple, red grape, hay, straw, grass, pepper, oak, wheat, and cracker; with light notes of vanilla, leathery/musty funk, white vinegar, and yeast/oak earthiness. Light-moderate fruity/lactic tart/sourness, fruit tang, and yeast/oak spiciness on the finish. Medium-high carbonation, light-medium body, and fairly crisp finishing. Balanced grainy malts, lactic acid, fruit tang, and oak tannins in the mouthfeel. Moderate increasing acidic/tangy/tannic dryness, no puckering sourness. Pretty refreshing, and not overly lactic. Really outstanding stuff. A lot less lactic/puckering than when I first reviewed it, but then again I had a flat bottle at the time. Perfectly balanced between jammy cherries, Brett/Lacto complexity, oak, with a solid pale/wheat malt backbone to balance acidity. Will get another when I can. Gets more jammy on the fruit with age.

New Stillwater NEDIPA. This was incredible. Opaquely hazy. Lasting head retention/thick soapy lacing. Aromas and flavors of huge tangerine, orange juice, red grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, guava, gooseberry, white grape/wine, citrus peel/zest, and light pepper/pine hops; with moderate wheat, biscuit dough, light honeyed malt sweetness; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Very mild pine, zesty, herbal, floral, grassy bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body, very creamy, silky, velvety, bready wheat/oats; slight sticky hops in the mouthfeel. Slightly increasing lingering bitter dryness; no cloying/astringency. Super smooth/soft, pretty refreshing, zero warming 8%. Amazing Citra/Nelson profile as expected. Insanely juicy and slightly dank/earthy hops; with perfectly balanced wheat/oat/malts. Not overly sweet/heavy from lingering dryness. Would buy a 4 pack.

This was amazing. Dense oil pour, amazing lasting head retention/thick lacing for the ABV. Flavors of huge dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, molasses, toffee, vanilla, cream, bourbon, toasted oak, roasted nuts, biscuit, and dark/brown bread/crust; with lighter notes of coconut, licorice, raisin, prune, fig, date, smoke, char, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast earthiness. Similar aromas, slight booze as it warms. Mild herbal, roast, char bitterness; and bourbon/oak spiciness on the finish. Medium carbonation and full body; amazingly creamy, silky, velvety, rich malts; light slickness, sticky hops, chalky roast, and oak tannins in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing bitter/tannic dryness; no cloying, acrid, astringency. Dangerously smooth, mild increasing warmth of 12.8%, minimal lingering barrel booze. They fucking nailed this as expected. Way more mellowed out on the bitter hop/char character than the base beer from barrel aging. Insanely rich malt complexity, with perfect barrel presence/integration. Not overly sweet/heavy from lingering dryness. BA Expo is still the best, but this is world class tier for RIS. Looking forward to the base coming back this year, but I still have some older ones in the cellar. Will see if I can get more of this as well.

Medium gold color with a slight copper tint. Thick white cap and good lacing.

Rich scent of malt with some citrusy, piney hops.

Taste is much more hop forward than the scent. Brewer lists the IBUs at 75+ but this doesn't taste particularly bitter to me. There is a strong hop presence but it has a clear, clean piney citrusness about it that is refreshingly dry while also having some depth. These two elements, pine and citrus (which I'll call grapefruit) remain constant from start to finish without lingering in the aftertaste. Perhaps this is a counterpoint to the haze craze going around. Clean, clear, hoppy, dry, tasty, I could go on but you get the drift. This is simply good beer in the West Coast Style and when you reach for it you already know what you're gonna get.
