Good morning BA, had too much energy drinks and nicotine yesterday; so I was up all night doing site work. A bit of backlog that has been put off lately. I've been doing as much as I can, anyways. The interment of my grandfathers ashes will be later on, not sure what's going on after that.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2018 is tasting amazing. Aromas and flavors of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, nutty dark roast coffee, caramel, toffee, vanilla, brown sugar, bourbon, coconut, toasted oak, and dark bread/crust; with lighter notes of molasses, dark fruit, oak char, and smoke. Mild roast/char bitterness and bourbon/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Medium carbonation and full body; with a very creamy, silky, velvety, and rich mouthfeel. Light stickiness, chalky roast, oak tannins, and increasing dryness. Minimal warming 12.3%, zero barrel booze. Unbelievably smooth. Perfectly balanced rich malts, fruity/nutty coffee, and bourbon barrel presence/integration. Still have plenty left of this batch, and got 1 2019 pack so far, but still more on the shelf currently. I think it gets a bit better after a year. Smoother/silkier.

2016 is tasting fantastic, think this was my last one. Flavors of big grapefruit, tangerine, apricot, raisin, plum, cherry, fig, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, and pine hops; with balanced caramel, brown sugar, toffee, toasted biscuit, light nutty malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Good sized pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; balanced creamy/bready malts, and sticky/resinous/rindy hops in the mouthfeel. Moderate increasing resin dryness, minimal hop astringency, dangerously smooth sipper. Mild increasing warmth. This is one of the most aggressive American Barleywines out there, but I always love it. Classic Chinook, Centennial, Cascade resinous hop profile; with balancing rich malts, and fruit yeast ester notes. Minimal residual sweetness from lingering resin dryness. Still holding up well on the hops 3 years later, haven't had an aged one in a while. Love it fresh or aged pretty much equally. Still need to grab some 2019.

Amazing APA. 2 month old pack. Aromas and flavors of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, citrus peel/rind, light pepper, and pine hops; with moderate toasted bread, light caramel malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation/body, and fairly crisp/clean finishing. Balanced bready/grainy malts and sticky/resinous/rindy hops in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing resin dryness, no hop astringency. Very refreshing for a pale ale, not overly aggressive. Amazingly juicy, vibrant, dank, and earthy balanced Citra hop complexity; nice bready malt backbone, with no residual sweetness from lingering bitter dryness. Revisited the review recently. One of the best in the style I've had, even though my rating dropped by a large margin from the original one. Glad it is easier to find now when I visit Ohio. Will get another one soon, hopefully.

Hoof Hearted Bru-1 edition. This was excellent. Aromas and flavors of big tangerine, red grapefruit, lemon, peach, plum, pear, apricot, raspberry, blueberry, currants, pineapple, red apple, mango, honeydew, watermelon, guava, citrus peel/rind, wood, mint, light peppercorn, and pine hops; with moderate wheat, cracker, biscuit dough, light honeyed malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Light pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; very smooth, creamy/bready malts, some sticky hops, and light resins/rinds in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing lingering bitter dryness, no hop astringency. Very smooth, nicely soft, minimal warming 8%. I have had Bru-1 before, but never by itself. Really unique profile of stone fruit/berry intensity. Very juicy and fairly dank/earthy hop complexity; with an awesome balanced wheat/oat/malt backbone. Mild residual sweetness with lingering dryness. Got a Simcoe version to review soon.

Gorgeous morning, upper 60’s and low humidity...back from long walk with dogs to park...now it’s coffee time - Central Waters’ BBA Cassian Sunset (2018):

Cinnamon and coffee nose/taste. Semi sweet caramel malt base with vanilla/oak flavors in middle. Poured at 57 degrees, and the bourbon shows up in the finish as the liquid warms. There’s a barrel dryness and the beer is lite in body, and neither I find diminish the overall experience. CW’s Brewer’s Reserve Series beers are some of my favorites...well balanced and delicious!

Thanks @scream for this tasty treat, and I hope your drive home was uneventful...let’s get together again next year! Cheers BAs, and have a great Saturday!
