What beer are you drinking now? #2385

Did somebody say Nelson? This is a personal favorite of mine from Tired Hands, and one that I'll always grab. This batch being no exception. Paired extraordinarily with Citra, this one is off the hook, advocates. Let's get LARRRGE!!!

Possibly my favorite from Malcolm. To call him merely a rapper is such a disservice to his artistry.

Freshest Kölsch I've ever been able to find here in Cologne at about two weeks old, assuming a 12-month best-by date, which may be a bit generous. This is far from normal in Cologne, where bottled Kölsch at supermarkets is usually between 4-8 months old.

It's long been my theory that canned Kölsch is fresher because there is much less demand for it and distributors order it in much smaller quantities, which means that it doesn't sit around in their warehouses for months on end before reaching the supermarkets.

What a great irony that most German consumers would much rather buy a 6-month old bottle of Kölsch than a 2-week old can because cans have such a bad reputation around here and the concept of freshness is totally alien to people around here.

 

The real reason I bought that Früh Kölsch was try out this hop extract with it that was recently gifted to me. While it certainly turns the beer more hoppy, it also has a very artificial, rubbery taste to it that is not entirely pleasant at all.

I have to say, and I don't say this lightly, that I definitely prefered the Kölsch before adding the hop extract to it. It's not like I had high expectations of this shit, but since it was gifted to me, I just wanted to give it a try.
