What Beer Are You Drinking Now? #2387

Delicious NEAPA. Flavors of big tangerine, red grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, strawberry, blueberry, gooseberry, white grape/wine, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, and pine hops; with moderate wheat, cracker, white bread dough, toasted biscuit malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Similar/muted aromas. Light pine citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation/body; creamy/breadygrainy malts, some sticky hops, and slight lingering resins/rinds in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing lingering bitter dryness, no hop astringency. Very smooth/soft, no warmth of 5.5%. Great Mandarina Bavaria, Hallertau Blanc, Huell Melon, Mosaic, Citra profile. Very juicy and fairly dank/earthy hops; with a great balanced wheat/oat/malt backbone. Mild residual sweetness with lingering dryness. Really well made for the style. Was getting a bit of a stale wheat note in there, but the BB dating was 4/2019, so I am not going to complain about it. Will finish off the pack easily. Would get again with a fresher batch. Might revisit the regular NEIPA as well.

I haven’t had much from Pipeworks, but this is easily the best I’ve had from them. Juicy, but still quite bitter. Very nice! Thanks Frank!

First time I try this
Pretty murky and fizzy when it comes out of the bottle
But gathering to be quite warm and good with dark fruits on an otherwise slightly cool day

 

Watched On the Waterfront as we woke early this morning. Then the gym and now a little year-to-year comparison:


Hmmm... barest hint of oxidation brings a bitter edge to the coffee note that is still noticeable in the ‘18 KBS, with the bourbon bite coming late.

Barrel notes more forward in the ‘19 KBS, relatively. Little more balance with dark chocolate and coffee stout notes.

Slightly different experiences, but I’m liking the ‘19 better by a little in this sitting.

Uinta Test Phaze IPA. Canned 3/6, same date as the ones reviewed.This is quite good, brewed with "experimental hop HBC 692"....I guess.

I was saving my last of these for something special and my daughter just made her first Communion. Going to her party, nothing good to drink, so I’m toasting her to something really tasty and something somewhat appropriate.
