Good afternoon BA's. It's a sunny day in Copenhagen, Denmark is playing their first match of the hockey world championships and I'm going to MBCC on a few hours so I couldn't resist having a cold beer while watching the game.

Spinning Records Backwards by Monkish, a 8.5% ABV double IPA. My first beer by Monkish. Not my favorite flavour profile but it's a well-made beer nevertheless.

    Have a nice Saturday BA.

Amazing as always, 2018 batch. Aromas and flavors of huge dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, toffee, smoke, charcoal, licorice, raisin, prune, cherry, fig, date, vanilla, toasted biscuit, dark bread/crust, leather, tobacco, herbal, wood, peppery/piney hops, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate roast/char and woody/peppery/piney hop bitterness on the finish. Light-medium carbonation and very full body; with a very creamy, silky, velvety, and rich mouthfeel. Some slickness, chalky roast, and sticky/resinous hops. Lightly increasing hop/char bitter dryness; no cloying, acrid, astringency. Dangerously smooth sipper, not overly bitter/charred, minimal warming 10.5%. This is the perfect example of a RIS style, as good or better than North Coast Old Rasputin. Get's better as it ages to mellow out the bitterness, but I love it either way. Prefer it around 2 years old.

Good day BAs! Rain scheduled again today so more inside shoveling. Today's New Breakfast beer:

Good Baltic porter with smoked grain, aged in Wild Turkey barrels - a real flavor treat.

Incredible NEDIPA. Aromas and flavors of huge tangerine, orange juice, red grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, guava, blueberry, gooseberry, licorice, citrus peel/zest, wood, and light peppercorn/pine hops; with moderate cracker, biscuit dough, light honeyed malt sweetness; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Mild pine, citrus pee/zest, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; very creamy, silky, bready oats, light sticky hops, and minimal lingering resins/rinds in the mouthfeel. Super smooth/soft, minimal warming 8.8%. Amazing Ella, Citra, Mosaic profile. Extremely juicy, vibrant, and lightly dank/earthy hops; with a perfectly balanced bready oat/malt backbone. Light residual sweetness with lingering bitter dryness. Definitely the best beer from them so far.

Incredible as usual this year. Aromas and flavors of big red grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pineapple, apricot, mango, melon, berries, citrus peel/rind, peppercorn, and pine hops; with moderate honey, white bread, light caramel malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation, medium-full bodied, and fairly crisp finishing. Balanced creamy/bready malts and sticky/resinous/rindy hops in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing bitter resin/rind dryness, no hop astringency. Amazing classic Columbus, Chinook, Centennial, Amarillo, Simcoe profile. Very juicy, vibrant, and fairly dank/earthy hop complexity; with a great balanced malt backbone. Not overly sweet or bitter, extremely well balanced. Lightly boozy alcohol, but dangerously easy drinking. Never disappoints. Feels less sweet than last year. Also a lot easier to find when released. Last one for the year.

I took myself for a long walk this morning around this huge KOA/RV park; now, some Alabama grapefruit juice - “Take The Causeway IPA”:

By Fairhope Brewing Company, Fairhope AL. Very good balance between caramel/biscuits base and bitter grapefruit pith. I like. We’re spending the Mother’s Day weekend with our cousin/family in Houston...ETA lunchtime today. Cheers and have a great Saturday y’all!

Amazing as usual this year. Aromas and flavors of huge juicy/lightly tart/tangy strawberries, tangerine, grapefruit, peach, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, lemon zest, orange peel, and light pepper/pine hops; with moderate wheat, biscuit, white bread dough, light honey malt sweetness; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Very mild pine, grassy, citrus peel bitterness; and fruit tartness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; very smooth and creamy/bready/grainy wheat/oat mouthfeel; light sticky hops and acidity. Slightly increasing lingering bitter/tart dryness. Amazing soft spot on mouthfeel for the style. Super drinkable for 6.8%. Super juicy/lightly dank hops with awesome balance of strawberry flavorings. Perfect wheat/oat/malt balance, and not overly sweet/heavy for the style. Can't say I prefer it over the base beer. Equally amazing spot on NEIPA. Hope they package some other variations eventually. Base M-43 is my top most purchased beer right now.

Felt like something dark, like, Obsidian dark. From the bottle too, but my wife insists on a glass.
I abided. I do miss the heft of drinking straight from the bottle though.
    Also, I give last night's trash-talk from WBAYDN a solid 8.5 out of 10.

Way more sour than smoke after 8 months in the bottle. It claims mixed cultures on the label so it's not unintended. Wife and son's soccer team are helping with the postal worker's food drive and daughter is officiating a couple soccer games. Need to mow grass and get a nap before starting on nightshifts tonight. Cheers all!

2018 is tasting amazing. Aromas and flavors of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, nutty dark roast coffee, caramel, toffee, vanilla, brown sugar, bourbon, coconut, toasted oak, and dark bread/crust; with lighter notes of molasses, dark fruit, oak char, and smoke. Mild roast/char bitterness and bourbon/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Medium carbonation and full body; with a very creamy, silky, velvety, and rich mouthfeel. Light stickiness, chalky roast, oak tannins, and increasing dryness. Minimal warming 12.3%, zero barrel booze. Unbelievably smooth. Perfectly balanced rich malts, fruity/nutty coffee, and bourbon barrel presence/integration. Still have plenty left of this batch, and got 1 2019 pack so far; but still plenty more on the shelf currently. I think it gets a bit better after a year. Smoother/silkier.
