What beer are you drinking now? #2409

Excellent stuff. Aromas and flavors of huge orange juice, citrus peel/zest, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, and dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of coconut, coffee, nuts, smoke, dark fruit, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Light herbal, grassy, citrus peel/zesty bitterness; and bourbon/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; creamy, silky, bready malts; some sticky zest, chalky roast, and oak tannins in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing lingering bitter/zesty/tannic dryness, no cloying/astringency. Dangerously smooth, mildly increasing warmth of 11%, no barrel booze. I can see why a lot of people hated this, but it was still really well done. I already had 2 other similar stouts this year. Awesome balance of vibrant orange citrus, cocoa, and rich base beer malt complexity; with great bourbon barrel presence/integration. The least impressive of the series yet, but I'd still buy more easily. I really like this new trend of citrus stouts.

Clown Shoes Zen Garden NEIPA

 

I virtually never have a beer this early but it's getting warm out and I'm getting thirsty. Got my buddy Kevin coming over at noon to lay down a bass track for a tune I've been working on. Since he's got an hour's drive I always throw a couple burgers on the grill and make lunch. He usually brings along some beers as well. Starting with this one ...

 

Oh my goodness this is downright amazing.

Galactic Double Daisy Cutter by Half Acre.



It's essentially hoppy fruit salad in a glass. Wow. Tangerines, clementines, red grapefruit, banana, cantaloupe, and honeydew. 4.46 out of 5 from me.




Followed by some delicious pulled pork and Hawaiian sweet rolls with a side of celery for brunch.

I’d say it’s officially sweltering gonna be 95 today 60%+ humidity and it’s going to be here for another 10 days or so. Washed up my car and broke a major sweat, need a beer. Love FW beers, wish Double Jack was still around.
