Good Morning, BA. Up early for a hike and a road trip back west. Gonna do some bluff exploring in eastern MN first though.

With the sun barely peeking through, I'm getting my vitamins with Break O' Day by New Glarus. The birds just started chirping and singing, so this literal representation was appropriate IMO.

It seems like they used a lot of juice extract instead of hops to bring the flavors out and while I understand that method can be used to complement flavors, it should not be used to implement them. I came in around 3.7 for this.

    Cheers!

    Have a nice holiday BA.

Fat Orange Cat/Decadent collab Pastry stout. This was amazing. Dense oil pour, fantastic head retention/thick lacing. Aromas and flavors of huge milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, molasses, toffee, cinnamon, chili peppers, vanilla, cream, fudge, brownie batter, roasted nuts, and toasted dark/brown bread/crust; with lighter notes of licorice, raisin, fig, date, smoke, char, wood, leather, tobacco, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast earthiness. Mild herbal, woody, grassy, cinnamon, and roast/char bitterness on the finish. Minimal ancho chili pepper spiciness. Light-medium carbonation and very full body; with a very smooth, creamy, silky, velvely, and rich mouthfeel that is amazing. Light slickness, sticky hops/spice, and chalky roast in the mouthfeel. Slightly increasing lingering bitter dryness; no cloying, acrid, astringency. Dangerously smooth drinking, mild increasing warmth of 13%, with minimal lingering pepper heat. Not overwhelming on any aspect. Amazing balanced rich malts, cinnamon, chocolate, ancho chile, and vanilla complexity; with solid earthy hop presence. Not overly sweet/heavy from lingering dryness. Great fruity pepper flavor, with minimal added heat. Glad I got the pack as expected. Nailed this all around. Would be worth getting again for the price vs Bomb.

[IMG] DFH Liquid. Pretty good brew. Was actually surprised how good this was. Canned 3/24, little on the older side but was still solid 4/5

Amazing batch this year as expected. Aromas and flavors of big juicy/tart/tangy red raspberries, fruit skin/seeds, raisin, red grape, plum, pear, red apple, pepper, candi sugar, and toasted bread; with some herbal hops and yeast earthiness. Touch of banana/clove. Balanced fruit tartness and peppery yeast spice on the finish against malt sweetness. Medium carbonation/body, and fairly crisp finishing. Some bready/grainy creaminess, fruit tannins, and lightly slick/syrupy in the mouthfeel. Good dryness from fruit acidity and yeast spice; never too sweet. Very drinkable, minimal warming 9.2%. Already got 4 packs. This shows great balance of Belgian yeast character, without just being a straight over the top fruit beer. Love Rubaeus too, this is basically just the imperial Belgian version. One of my favorite fruit beers of all time. I wouldn’t mind Cerise coming back either. Super jammy. Will keep buying more while I can.

Awesome Black DIPA. Aromas and flavors of big tangerine, red grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, black currant, blueberry, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, and pine hops; with moderate dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, biscuit dough, toasted dark bread malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery hops; and roast/charred bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; balanced creamy/silky/bready malts, sticky hops; some resins/rinds, and chalky char/roast in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing hop/char bitter dryness; no hop astringency. Very smooth, not overly aggressive, minimal warming 7.8%. Awesome Ella, Mosaic, Falconers Flight, Amarillo profile. Extremely juicy and fairly dank/earthy hops; with a perfectly balanced wheat, oat, black, roasted malt backbone. Minimal residual sweetness from lingering resin dryness. Spot on stuff, not overly charred on malts. Still waiting for Black IPAs to make a comeback. Need to seek out another 4 pack of this.

Fantastic IPA. Aromas and flavors of big grapefruit, tangerine, peach, pineapple, apricot, mango, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, light pepper, and pine hops; with moderate caramel, toasted bread malt balance; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation/body and fairly crisp finishing. Balanced creamy/bready malts and sticky/resinous hops in the moufeel. Moderate increasing bitter/resin dryness, no hop astringency. Extremely drinkable, never overly aggressive. Outstanding juicy and fairy dank hop complexity; nice bready Munich malt backbone, with no residual sweetness. Classic Columbus, Centennial, Cascade, Ahtanum, and Amarillo hop bill. A top favorite when fresh.

Good morning Ba's on this day when we remember those that gave their lives defending America's freedom. Fifteen mile paved trail ride with the Ms's complete. Enjoying an Infinite Ale Works Into the Dark Roast. While many in my family served we were fortunate enough to all come home. My dad was a US Army Chaplin in WWII, spending nearly 2 years in Europe. As a result I've been reading up more on that war, and the numbers are staggering. One fact and I'll leave you to celebrate those we lost. "In 48 months of World War II there were 1,078,162 American casualties, with 407,316 death, or 6,639 Americans dying in combat each month of the war.
These are staggering numbers. And the recriminations even during the war at home from the politicians and press were relentless, as it always seems to be in a free regime. But Americans in the field never faltered. Even after 19,000 American troops died at the Battle of the Bulge in December of 1944, or the 13,000 that died—most in hand-to-hand combat—taking Okinawa, the Americans persevered. Their courage and sacrifice knew no bounds. And under a steadfast commander-in-chief, Franklin Roosevelt and his generals, Eisenhower, Bradley, MacArthur, Patton, we would have victory."
Enjoy your day, I'm out to cut firewood since the wife thinks it's a good day to light a fire and grill in the 100 degree heat.....

Insane as always, 7 months old. So glad this is year round now. Flavors of huge medium roasted coffee, dark chocolate, cocoa, roasted nuts, toasted oats, molasses, biscuit, dark bread/crusts, and light smoke/char; with some herbal/piney hops, touch of dark fruit. Incredible bittersweet balanced finish between roast/hop notes. Medium-full body; amazingly creamy, silky, velvety, bready malts; light slickness, sticky hops, and chalky char/roast in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing bitter/roasted dryness; no cloying, acrid, astringency. Super smooth/soft. Always liked this the most with 6-9 months of age, but still amazing fresh as well with more recent batches. Balance between rich malts, fruity/nutty coffee complexity, and bitter hops is perfect. Will get another pack eventually of the same batch. Just got this one a few weeks ago.
