Hope everyone had a good Monday. Supposed to storm later on, and they are apparently still going to do the Detroit fireworks thing. We'll see what happens.

Fantastic DIPA! Lasting creamy/rocky head retention/thick soapy lacing. Aromas and flavors of huge mandarin orange juice, red grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, guava, berries, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, and pine hops; with moderate honey, caramel, white bread dough, toasted biscuit, light nutty malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; balanced creamy/bready/grainy malts, and sticky/resinous/rindy hops in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing resin dryness, no hop astringency. Very smooth, nicely soft, not overly aggressive, mild increasing warmth of 9.7%. Amazing Citra, Azacca, Simcoe profile. Extremely juicy, vibrant, dank, and earthy balanced hop complexity; with a nice sized dark/bready malt backbone. Mild residual sweetness with lingering resin dryness. Well attenuated for the ABV. Loved it! 4.23

Golden orange body; lively carbonation; sticky, dense and creamy head; foam clings to the glass. Nice tropical fruit aroma; pineapple and orange; mango; some light malt scent. Fine balance of light grain flavor, fruity esters, and nuanced hop bitterness throughout the taste; light sweetness. Medium body; the feel rides between light sweetness and subtle dryness on the palate.

This is a delightful pale ale, well-balanced and offering some decent depth.

Won the Alpha King at GABF with it so they must be doing something right. Anyone that thinks it’s a mess must not remember what IPA’s were like before the haze craze.

More new Milkshake sours. This was fantastic. Great fluffy head retention/spotty soapy lacing. Aromas and flavors of huge juicy/tart/tangy pineapple, passion fruit, mango, fruit skin, lemon, lime, orange, peach, pear, melon, red/green apple, white grape/wine, hay, straw, grass, marshmallow, vanilla, cream, wheat, white bread dough, light lacto funk, and yeast earthiness. Very mild fruity/lactic tartness, and fruit tang on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; very creamy, silky, velvety, bready lactose/wheat/oats; lt lactic acid and fruit tang/tannins in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing lingering tart/tangy dryness; no cloying/pucker. Refreshingly smooth/soft, mellowly lactic, zero warming 7.1%. Amazing balance of juicy/jammy fruit, vanilla, marshmallow, and Lacto complexity; with a perfectly balanced lactose, and wheat/oat/malt backbone against acidity. Light residual sweetness with lingering dryness. Top tier quality style example. 4.25

Still need to check out more Dark Funeral Albums, but as of right now Where Shadows Forever Reign is my favorite. This might be second place just on first impressions.

Just drain-poured two beers in a row... yikes. Four Quarters/Collaborative 4 Non Blondes (crappy blonde ale base with cinnamon, cocoa, coffee, and coconut... just no, absolutely not cohesive in any way), and then Prairie Rainbow Sherbet (smelled amazing; almost exactly like actual rainbow sherbet, but the flavor had a vomit-like element to it that must've been butyric acid or something... disgusting... totally disgusting)... now for something worthy of my glass!!

Amazing can art and a beautiful pour. Both of the previous IPAs I've had from BW have been superb, and this is also quite good... review here!

    Paradox -- MFIPA Mosaic Brut

The body looks like a milky, cloudy, soft yellow sort of color; the head was initially thick and frothy but quickly disappeared. Dry, champagne and brett-like aroma; some citrus notes. A rather juicy tasting brut beer; orange and grapefruit with a strong tartness; good bitterness. Heavy body; tangy and kind of dry yet still providing a biting citrus juiciness to the overall picture.

This beer is not as dry as the few other brut IPA offerings I've experienced. The head didn't last long but the rich, creamy look of the body has strong eye appeal. The taste and feel seem to be a sort of dichotomy -- a brut beer (and it does have a strong dryness to it) yet also wet and juicy on the palate. Go figure. Overall, an interesting beer to experience.

Noble I Found It! This is BCBS thick, as it should be for 13%. Incredibly smooth and creamy. Chocolate ganache for days. Wish for some more roasted char bitterness. Awesome stout.

This is pretty good. It’s not exactly Brut-ish (I’ve not found the dry finish in many of that style), but it’s a pretty nice, hoppy DIPA in the West Coast style.
