What beer are you drinking now? #2445

Good day BAs! Well, Mrs. Lizard and I have returned from the Amish Paradise around the Berks/Chester/Lancaster county area of Pennsyltucky, a weekend flitting between quilt stores and beer stores. Kudos to Rick at State Line Liquors in Elkton, MD, for scoring my 12 bottles of Vecchio Amaro del Capo and two cases of Schlenkerla Marzen. Shangy's also scraped up a case of singles with the case discount. Overall, a pleasant long weekend with generally beautiful weather and little road construction.

My experiences with Sly Fox beers have generally been good, but these last two IPAs have been the epitomy of averageness.

This is one of my favorite days of the year! It gives me the CANportunity to drink CANned CANadian beer, watch hockey replays, watch "Strange Brew" & eat some beaver! Without further ado (adieu!), I present my first of the day:

Keeping it light on this bright and shinning morning in case I need to get out later . . .




Light yellow color with white cap and lacing.

Mild aroma of barley malt and airy floral hops.

Flavor also evokes the word mild. Malt presence is about halfway between little and full which is to say they're in the chorus but not singing very strongly. Tune is really carried by hops which present a firm bitterness while retaining the floral aspects found in the scent. Short finish that is bone dry and very refreshing.

Man, we are getting it in and on to CANebrate CANada Day! We have beer flowing, the grill is going, Jeanne-Martine just served up some wild poutine (I think that she may have herbalized it), the Quebecoise raps are jamming from the boom box & things are progressing nicely here at Chez Woody! Bro, if you are into eating CANadian beaver to CANebrate, you gotta invite the French-CANadians to your next party, dig? They bring some homegrown pelts that you will def want to trade for! I put a dent in my icebox yesterday and so need to make a beer run later today. I’ve found a couple of good places, but I’ll wait to see what the Mrs. wants to do today. Cheers and have a great Monday!

 

Another tasty tasty.

 

Nitro Nemesis, from our local (The Hague, NL) brewery Kompaan in collaboration with van Moll.
A New England Strawberry Milkshake IPA pumped with Nitro. Loaded with Strawberries, lactose and DDHopped with Mosaic + Belma hops and infused with Madagaskar vanilla. Had some doubts, but this turns out to be rather nice.

Off work for the next week! And what a beautiful day to start my vacation! Just back from a run and figured post run beer is in order.
This Pilsner from Lawson’s is really outstanding. Might pick up some more for my camping trip over the fourth.
