Morning, BA! Breakfast and the all-important fika done, time for a beer. This is Agamemnon by Omnipollo, while watching Dodgeball. Haven’t seen it in years, but damn, is it quotable!

Have a nice Saturday BA. My parents, sister, and nephew are in town for the weekend. Going to be going to Legoland and the aquarium later today. Then going to cook up some kind of pre-birthday dinner in my apartment.

This is still tasting fantastic. Aromas and flavors of big juicy/tart blueberries, milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, fudge, vanilla, toasted coconut, bourbon, oak, and dark bread; with lighter notes of molasses, licorice, and raisins. Light roasted bitterness and fruit tang/tartness on the finish. Full bodied creamy, silky, velvety, and rich mouthfeel. Light roast malt chalkiness, fruit tang/acidity, and increasing dryness. Never cloyingly sweet, but definitely a dessert beer. Amazingly smooth, minimally warming 10.5%. A near perfect balance of berries, cocoa/vanilla, rich malts, and barrel character. Tons of flavor complexity, and it all comes together extremely well. I've always been a big fan of fruit stouts, so I'm not surprised how much I loved this one. Seems pretty polarizing to most people, but this is one of my favorites from the barrel series. This is the 14th bomber I've had, found more a few weeks ago and bought 3. Well worth the price. Hope they make it again some day. It has actually gotten less sweet over the last 2.5 years, a bit more berry tartness right now. Still love it!

This beer is pretty much perfection. Continuing with comedy classics I haven't seen in a while...

Excellent IPA as usual. Glad they went to cans(year round). Aromas and flavors of big tangerine, grapefruit, peach, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, berry, lemon/orange peel, citrus rind, peppercorn, and pine hops; with moderate cracker, white bread dough malt balance; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation/body, and fairly crisp finishing. Balanced bready/grainy malts and sticky hops in the mouthfeel. Some resins/rinds, increasing dryness, no hop astringency. Pretty refreshing for an IPA. Really great balanced dank/earthy/piney and citrus/tropical hop vibrancy; with a nice malt backbone, and minimal residual sweetness from lingering crisp drying. Feels a bit more dank and resinous than I remember in bottles, but it's fine by me. Azacca, Mosaic, Citra, Warrior, Simcoe, & Calypso hops. Will definitely keep buying it.

Another excellent beer from Old Nation. Aromas and flavors of big dark roasted coffee, chestnuts, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, and toasted dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of vanilla, molasses, dark fruit, smoke, char, herbal/grassy/peppery hop, and yeast earthiness. Light herbal, grassy, peppery hop; and charred/roasted coffee bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; very creamy/bready/grainy malt; light sticky hop and chalky char/roast in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing lingering hop/char bitter dryness. No cloying, acrid, astringent flavors. Super smooth, mildly increasing warmth of 8.1%. Awesome balance of rich malts, chestnuts, and fruity/nutty coffee complexity; with solid earthy hop presence. Not overly sweet/heavy from lingering bitter dryness. Glad this is in distro now. Will always keep this one around now. Spot on imperial style example.

Outstanding Gose. Aromas and flavors of big tart/sour lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, citrus peel/zest, peach, pear, melon, red/green apple, white grape/wine, coriander, sea salt, hay, straw, and grass; with moderate wheat, cracker, white bread dough malts; light peppercorn, lacto funk, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate fruity/lactic tang/tartness; light zesty bitterness, and coriander spiciness on the finish. Medium-plus carbonation, light-medium body, and fairly crisp/clean finishing. Balanced creamy/grainy wheat, lactic acid; light sticky spice, and salinity in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing tart/tangy/spicy dryness; zero puckering. Very flavorful/refreshing, not overly lactic/salty, not watery for 4.2%. Perfectly balanced vibrant citrus, Lacto complexity, coriander, salt, and pale/wheat malts against acidity. Minimal residual sweetness with crisp dryness. Extremely spot on stuff. Might get another pack.

Tasting amazing as usual, 4 months old. Aromas and flavors of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pineapple, passion fruit, mango, melon, citrus peel/rind, peppercorn, and pine hops; with some biscuity, light caramel/toasted malt balance; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, grassy, peppery bitterness on finish. Medium carbonation/body, and fairly crisp finishing. Sticky/resinous hops, with a fair amount of balancing bready/grainy malt creaminess in the mouthfeel. Moderate increasing resin dryness, never astringent. Super vibrant, juicy, and dank on hops; and extremely drinkable. Amazing classic Columbus, Simcoe, Centennial profile. Will always be a top favorite Ohio IPA, along with Columbus and White Rajah. I need to go back to Ohio more often than I do.

Got some fruity stuff for this weekend so I'll start with this, no photo unfortunately . . .

Chandeleur Brewing Wine Grape Brut IPA

Deep ruby gold color with white cap and lacing.

Aroma is slightly vinous with bright tropical tinted hops.

Flavor is only slightly grape like (Zinfandel) with a generous helping of tropical hops. The overall impression is one of flavorful mildness. Grape influence is noticeable but stays in the background. DDH Hops are the whole cloth in this makeup but they adroitly walk the balancing bar. Clean, relatively simple brew that both drinks and finishes dry.

Light to medium texture with balancing carbonation.

This one appears to be an update on Chandeleur's Zinfandel DIPA that weighed in at 8%. At 6.7 this is a somewhat diminished version that comes across as a thing in it's own right and not just some pale copy Session style.
