What Beer Are You Drinking Now? #2499

Delicious white stout. Flavors of big milk/white chocolate, cocoa, medium roast coffee, honey, caramel, toffee, vanilla, cream, bourbon, toasted oak, nuts, biscuit, and white bread dough/crust; with lighter notes of coconut, fruit, herbal, grass, pepper, pine, and yeast earthiness. Similar/muted aromas. Light-moderate pine, herbal, grassy, peppery bitterness; and bourbon/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Medium carbonation and body; creamy, silky, bready, grainy malts; some sticky hops, and bourbon/oak tannins in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing bitter/tannic dryness; no cloying/astringency. Very smooth, nicely soft, no warmth of 6% or barrel booze. Overall it'll satisfy the itch for a BBA brew at a good price. Well balanced bready malts, cocoa, coffee, and vanilla flavors; with nice overall barrel presence/integration, and balancing earthy hops. Light residual sweetness with lingering dryness. Expected more from it, but well executed. Wouldn't mind getting another pack again. Fresh batch tastes a bit better than the one I reviewed. Pretty sure this is year round now.

Breakfast beer No. 2 - Avery’s Demons of Ale Series - The Beast, Grand Cru, Oak Aged Ale:



OMG. I had forgotten what a powerhouse this ale was/and has become...bottled 7/18/16. Batch #14.

4.75 | 4.0 | 4.75 | 4.5 | 4.75

Poured a deep amber/copper color at 57 degrees; ok cap retention which leaves an island of bubbles; good clarity; small spots of lace and heavy legs on swirl. Fruity, sweet caramel malt nose; alcohol on the retronasal exhale. Sweet caramel malt, boozy raisins, dates, dark fruit; honey as liquid warms. Medium body, moderate minus carbonation; slick feel with oaky dry finish; warming from 16.8% ABV. Overall, a tour de force; amazingly well balanced flavors take no back seat to the big alcohol presence; I like “big boozy beers” - if you do, and if you can still find it, buy it and enjoy!

Yoooo this is gooood. Tastes like a stack of chocolate chip pancakes. The syrup is strong in this but not overwhelming, not overly sweet. Well fuckin done. First game of footie in months done, felt great to play again especially after the last 36 hours of storm crap. Cheers all.

At Rushing Duck’s 7th Anniversary drinking Farms, Friends & Felines, a blend of stout and barleywine aged in local honey bourbon barrels. Nobody blends better than the Mighty Duck. This is nirvana. Cheers!

 

First of the day for me, Dogfish Head Dragons & YumYums. It's ok, not great, the fruit and the pale ale don't really mesh here.
