    On the road again...

    Drinking a beer from a craft brewery located in Britanny but that’s not where I’m at right now. I’m visiting the Vendée region of France which is south of Nantes to name a major city known to some...

    The beer is a mix of American Pale Ale and abbey ale. More APA on the palate and not too shabby at all:

    This one was tempting and I can resist anything but temptation . . .

    Dark black brown color with tan cap.

    Aroma of roasted malt with coffee and cocoa tones.

    Flavor of roasted malt and coffee on entry. Mid palate some dark fruit elements enter but quickly get pushed back by the stronger flavors. I don't get hops in the scent but find some in the flavor though it might do just as well without them. Aftertaste is more of the same.

    Moritz Lager from Barcelona, where we today. Very tasty refreshing drink.


    Warmed goat cheese salad. Spanish olives and olive oil are wonderful.

    Another late start today - Backwoods Bastard:



    6/26/19. Plenty of barrel notes and booze. Some bitter earthy hops too. Faint smoke. All play nice with the sweet caramel malt.

    Sunny and gorgeous morning...hard to believe a hurricane may be headed this way...Cheers from Charleston, SC!

    I’m on laundry and kitchen duty today, just in case we lose power tomorrow...and I need to drink down some of the beer stash my friends left me :grin:, as well as a bunch of leftovers.

    Having a Handlanger (accomplice). It's a DIPA from Kompaan Brewery in The Hague (NL). Lots of hops: simcoe, cascade, and hallertau blanc and three kinds of malts.

    Today I noticed they recently won World Beer Award for best IPA. For what that's worth of course. Nice DIPA still. Their brewery and taproom is around the corner from where my office is.
