Good morning, tonight I have to prepare my NYE which I have decided to spend at home with a dinner, my GF and a couple buddies. Low key but it should be fine.

I have received a box from @DoctorZombies this morning, from the Netherlands where he’s spending his holidays season. Thanks sir! A Dutch NEIPA for a start:

Have a good NYE. I have been playing Battlefield 1 and Resident Evil 7 all night. Bought both last night. BF1 was only $5 on Origin, RE7 was $15 on sale 50% off on Steam. The graphics are stunning on both! BF1 is the best WW1 shooter I’ve ever played too. Also bought Marrowind and Oblivion for less than $10 combined, Definitely going to go buy some more vape juice today, getting a bit low. Down to a few bottles and I like to have a lot of flavors on hand. Keeps things interesting.

Levante Strata Swerve. Fantastic. Lasting head retention/thick foamy lacing. Aromas and flavors of big tangerine, red grapefruit, lemon, peach, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, guava, strawberry, gooseberry, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, pine, wheat, cracker, white bread dough, biscuit, light honey/toast, and herbal/floral/grassy hop earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body. Very creamy/bready/grainy malts, and some sticky/resinous/rindy hops in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitterness. No hop astringency. Nicely soft and not aggressive. Fantastic Strata, Citra, and Idaho 7 profile. Extremely juicy, vibrant, and fairly dank/earthy hops; with a nice sized wheat/oat/malt backbone. Light residual sweetness with lingering resin dryness. Spot on NEIPA. 4.23

It finally cooled down and we got a dusting of snow. Skiing will be better today! And, being the last day of the year, you gotta break out the good stuff.

    Thank goodness FIS was re-introduced.

Barrier / Other Half - Half & Half. Awesome. Great head retention/foamy lacing. Aromas and flavors of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, dark roasted coffee, caramel, vanilla, cream, roasted nuts, toasted biscuit, and dark bread/crust; with lighter notes of licorice, molasses, dark fruit, smoke, char, wood, herbal, grass, peppercorn, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate pine, herbal, woody, grassy, peppery, roast/charred/coffee bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; very creamy/silky/bready malts; some sticky/resinous hops and chalky roast in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering hop/char bitterness. No cloying, acrid, astringent flavors after the finish. Great soft/silky feel, and not overly bitter/charred. Awesome balance of rich malts, fruity/nutty coffee, and lactose flavor complexity; with nice earthy hop balance, and restrained fruity yeast. Light residual sweetness with lingering hop/char dryness. Impressive English style example. 4.1

Just threw a pork tenderloin in the sous vide for New Year’s lunch. Starting the drinking with a brewery that is dear to my heart. Cheers, BBA, I’ll be here all night.

pFriem Dank IPA. Awesome. Lasting head retention/thick foamy lacing. Aromas and flavors of big red grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, guava, berries, citrus peel/rind, white grape, wood, mint, peppercorn, pine, cracker, white bread dough, toasted biscuit, light honey/nutty, and herbal/floral/grassy hop earthiness. Moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and body; balanced creamy/bready/grainy malts, and sticky/resinous/rindy hops in the mouthfeel. Moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitterness. Minimal hop astringency after the finish. Minimal warming alcohol for 7.8%. Not overly aggressive. Awesome Chinook, Mosaic, Citra, Warrior, Nelson Sauvin, Columbus profile. Extremely vibrant, dank, earthy, and fairly juicy hops; with a great clean bready malt backbone. Minimal residual sweetness with crisp resin dryness. Really impressive. They nailed what they were going for on the dank qualities. 4.13

Bourbon County Mon Cheri Stout, again from @DoctorZombies.

Poured this bottle into a neutral Founders glass, leaving a thin brown head. Black color as expected.

On the nose and palate, this is amazing, strong flavors of cherries, oats, brown sugar and vanilla. Incredibly smooth on the palate considering its 14,1%.

Overall. This is near perfection in a bottle, I’ve only ever given the 5 perfect rating to Founders CBS, but I’m tempted to give it here as well. Incredibly tasty beer all around. No flaws, just sit back and enjoy this absolute treat. Don’t drive afterwards though.

Good morning, BAs, and happy Eve of 2020! Is it the the eve of a new decade? I’m not really sure, but I’ll be pondering while drinking this well-named, chock full of Galaxy ipa from rising stars Levante.
Every year since 2015, I’ve spent more money at Tired Hands than at any other brewery or bar. For 2020, I predict Levante will take that title. I’ve had most of their releases for the past few months, and they are consistently great to stellar.

Since 2015, I've easily spent the most money at Tree House, even after being gone two years. I like your line of thinking, though. I want to branch out in PA, but I need someone to come along and really knock my palate for a loop. That's my beer wish for 2020: a brewery no one saw coming that becomes the next (deserved) hype machine. I love you. Cheers, my brotha!

Tired Hands brews great stuff so I understand why it would be your favorite brewery. I hate to think how much I have spent at Veil with Triple Crossing being a close second. The gap really widens to the next brewery after that.

I hope you find one, since I’d also like more local, great canned ipa options. I feel like we have many good options, but very few great ones. I wouldn’t even call Tired Hands great anymore, although a few years ago I absolutely would have. They’ve just been lapped by so many others.
