What’s in the bowl? At first i thought it was some buds, but on zoom, I can’t tell.

    Unexpected score...FW 23rd anniversary!

Very subtle everything. Poured chilled. Nose is almost nonexistent until you stick your schnozz deep in the glass. First sips are mildly sweet, owing to the Stickee Monkee and Parabola, but neither takes center stage. There’s a wee bit of cherry and a tiny bit of rum in the mid and back end of the taste. I understand why the liner notes suggest a half-glass snifter pour: I think this one needs a lot of room to open its profile. It’s like the volume keeps it weighed down. Chilling seemed to really stunt it, so it’ll warm as I type away. Very easy to kick back, but at $12 a bottle, don’t gulp! More subtle bourbon shows up as it warms.

Bell’s Octoberfest. Lots of sediment. Weak aroma. Muddled caramel flavor. Not sure if it’s too old or if something happened en route to the store. It seems lower rated for the style so maybe I’m not alone.

My last of these from my Vermont hauls. I don’t normally get excited about lagers, but they know lagers.

Careful you don't kick that ish and spill it on the candles. When I was younger I dumped a Golden Pheasant Pils in my Xbox and killed it playing GTA San Andreas.

Gifted to me by a beverage store owner pal. Budweiser black lager aged in Jim Beam. I am prejudiced that I will hate it. I expect to hate it...Budweiser is not a brand I ever bring into my house from actual money I earn. Yes. I am a beer snob. I’m ok with that...

It’s cold, so everything is a bit stunted. No real nose; maybe some cigarette ash tray. Ok, not that bad... First sips where I know the drain pour reason will kick in...aren’t bad. It’s a relatively decent lager flavor. Thin, crisp mouthfeel. The Jim Beam is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay in the back end of the profile, but warming might bring it up a little. The profile changes very quickly. Five minutes in, it’s now Yuengling-esque when it hits the tongue, but pulls out a cola/porter mid and rear palate. I’ll let it warm up a lot more as that’s where the mass-produced beer tends to hit its maximum death trajectory. If the JIm Beam was more pronounced, it’d be more compelling.

My first beer of 2020 comes from Yakima's Single Hill Brewing, and is called Cascadian Darkness, and is...odd.

Seems like a black IPA where maybe the brewers skimped a little on the dark malts, but then about midway through the flavor turns to...bubble gum.

Hell yea downloading Titanfall 2 right now. $8 for the ultimate DLC edition. I played RE2 for 2 hours then went down to my friends apartment for his G/F birthday. They had a scoop out Strawberry shortcake and it was amazing, I only had a little bit. Oculus rift and 4TB hard drive definitely on my Tax return wants list. Wont be too much with some fees I have to pay and my Student Loans got dismissed last month on the 15th. I have to pay back the difference between what I actually owed and what I paid which was half. 10s of thousands can be Taxed as income.

Founders Civilized Brut. Awesome! Lasting head retention/thick foamy lacing. Aromas and flavors of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, lime, peach, pear, passion fruit, mango, melon, gooseberry, red apple, white grape/wine, wood, mint, peppercorn, pine, cracker, white bread dough, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium-plus carbonation and light-medium body; balanced bready/grainy malts and sticky/resinous/rindy hops in the mouthfeel. Moderately crisp, refreshing, drying finish; minimal hop astringency. Minimal warming 6%. Feels like Simcoe, El Dorado, and Nelson Sauvin. Very vibrant dank, earthy, and fairly juicy hops; with a great clean pale malt backbone. Minimal residual sweetness with lingering crisp resin dryness. Really spot on style example as expected of Founders. 4.13
