Tonight is a fantastic lineup for a February night:
1. Great Lakes Dortmund Gold (one of the best lagers to date) and Bahaus' Wonderstuff (Czech Pils)
2. Odell's DDH IPA and Founder's Centennial IPA (Two great breweries)
3. Elysian Split Shot Espresso Milk Stout (pictured above) and Castle Danger's George Hunter Stout.

 

Enjoying a little juicy haze ...



For anyone who cares to give it a listen, here's a mellow jazz blues that I found in my archive. I recorded it a long time ago and I don't remember who played bass. I did the guitar parts. It's kind of a classic, clean jazz tune recorded on my Gibson Howard Roberts Fusion III guitar. It was originally recorded on a 4 track cassette so the quality isn't that great. Cheers!!!

Waiting on a takeout pizza, saw there was New England Brewing Dose DIPA on tap and thought, why not? After all, got to stay hydrated.

Bottle poured into a snifter

“What are you waiting for” - messsge inside the bottle sap

Black motor oil liquid, two finger dense brown foam cap , great retention , settles to a dense pencil thin layer after five minutes , some lacings

Aroma is sweet rich coffee

Smooth rich coffee taste , brown sugar sweetness, molasses

Like drinking a smooth velvety coffee , low sudsing , abv is totally hidden

Good beer

 

#2, this is a couple of months past it’s “Shelf Life” date, and still drinking really well. It’s like a hoppy porter. Still have a couple of IV, and just picked up a 6er of V yesterday (with a 12-month shelf life). Bell’s is the bizzle sha dizzle, IMHO.

 

No, those are golden tomatoes - they were on sale

Just classic beef, cheddar, tomato and lettuce tacos - i used the flat bottomed taco shells, first time ever and they were pretty good, more like a taco boat lol.

 

In NJ? If so, I am not surprised.

 

We don't usually have high expectations for our season-opening starter in Milwaukee, WI, but we are talking about that for Brandon Woodruff. However, if that does not work out, we trust in Sterns to find some ransom guy to reinvent himself for a second-half run.

 

Next up is the glorious Traquair House Ale. This continues to be one of my favorites, and one of the best malt forward beers around. Ayinger Celebrator is the only other beer that comes to mind that I get as much malty goodness as this. At least so readily available on the shelves.

Spinning Elvin Jones Live at the Lighthouse. An amazing early 70's live record on Blue Note. David Liebman and Steve Grosmman on various Sax, and are amazing.

Brothership Earth Go Hard DIPA (Citra/Sabro). These guys actually had their grand opening today in Mokena, IL. Place was a mad house, but for good reason. The beer was pretty outstanding. Great pils, good adjunct stout, and their 3 hazy DIPA's were up there with some of the best Chicago has to offer imo. This one was my favorite of the bunch. Coconut cream pie, lime and mango sorbet, lime zest, crushed pineapple, ripe valencia orange, orange gummis, orange peel, ripe kiwi, vanilla wafer. Slight hop burn is my only complaint. Love the Sabro and Citra combo. Cheers!
