Good day and new week, advocates.

Another morning errands done, pretty quickly considering the circumstances and now sipping on a great, great Tripel... Karmeliet, Westmalle or Chimay are just equally outstanding but Carolus always seemed special to me:

Have a good Monday. Been up all night as usual as I'd slept til 5 pm. I got a free month of Amazon Prime video to start watching The Grand Tour. First episode was amazing, as good or better than the original BBC Top Gear; so I'll easily watch all 4 seasons. Worth the subscription alone. Need to see what else to watch, heard Jack Ryan was good and I love me some Tom Clancy novels as well. Got the Guitar Rig 5 Software to work with the audio drivers finally. Still need to get a preamp of some sort and/or wait until my USB audio interface comes in the mail. It's about 30ms delay on input so I have to make sure I can't hear myself through headphones when I sing or play or else it'll fuck me up haha.

Bell's Light Hearted. Excellent Session IPA. Great rocky head retention/spotty foamy lacing. Aromas and flavors of big tangerine, red grapefruit, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, mango, honeydew melon, berries, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, pine hops; with moderate cracker, toasted biscuit malts; and herbal/floral/grassy hop earthiness. Moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium-plus carbonation, light-medium body, and fairly crisp/clean finishing. Balanced bready/grainy malts and sticky/resinous/rindy hops in the mouthfeel. Moderate increasing resin dryness, no hop astringency. Very flavorful/refreshing, not watery for 3.7%. Awesome Centennial/Galaxy profile. Very vibrant, dank, earthy, and fairly juicy hops; with a nice clean pale malt backbone for the ABV. Minimal residual sweetness with crisp resin dryness. No complaints! Would have been ok just to keep it 100% Centennial hops, but the Galaxy adds some nice complexity to it that I really enjoy. 4

Good day BAs! Well, off to another wet week. Talked to my brother in TX yesterday - while it was snowing here last Thursday, his family was enjoying their pool. Everybody in his extended family is working from home and has been for three weeks now - strictly following the quarantine. They have tons of cheese and wine stashed, so food's no problem. And my brother's an IT guy, so working from home saves him all kinds of time and reduces stress driving I35 around SAT daily.
Today's Breakfast Beer, something from the back of my Beer Reefer:

11 months after the purchase, the alcohol has retreated somewhat and the chocolate has advanced, much improved. Still no coffee nor "dark fruit", however. Too bad this is the last bottle in my stock. Review updated.

Haven't watched Jack Ryan yet but I've heard it's great from multiple sources with very different tastes. Same goes for Fleabag, haven't watched it yet but heard great things (And it won some awards.) My top recommendation would be The Boys, top notch adaptation of the Garth Ennis comics. Good Omens was also a great adaptation and a nice quick one-season watch............ People like The Expanse but I have the incredibly nerdy problem of having read all the novels multiple times and I hate all the actors, could only get through the first season.

Well I found out Suits is free with Amazon Prime so I gotta get on that, I've been meaning to watch it as I like White Collar a lot.

Hubbards Cave French Toast. Fantastic as expected. Great head retention/spotty soapy lacing. Aromas and flavors of huge milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, maple syrup, cinnamon, vanilla, cream, caramel, brown sugar, roasted nuts, toasted biscuit, and dark/brown bread/crust; with lighter notes of molasses, licorice, dark fruit, smoke, char, wood, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast earthiness. Minimal booze in the aromas as it warms. Light herbal, woody, grassy, peppery, roast, charred bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and very full body; very creamy/silky/velvety/bready malts; fairly slick, sticky, and chalky roast. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering hop/char bitterness; no cloying/acrid/astringent flavors. Smooth sipping, mild increasing warmth of 12%. Fantastic balance of super rich malts, cinnamon, maple, vanilla, and lactose flavors; solid earthy hops and restrained fruity yeast. Light residual sweetness with lingering dryness. Really impressive as usual. 4.2

I've determined this to be the best song on the new Leprous album for my tastes.

    Good morning BA
Just finished an uneventful nightshift as both production lines are down with minimum staffing. Had a Westmalle Dubbel yesterday and now reviewing a Rochefort 6...

Not my favorite profile in a dubbel, but still very good. Getting ready to eat some Easter leftovers and get a nap. Cheers all & enjoy your Monday!

It's amazing how much my beer break had changed my perception of drinking. Now I take much more time with things and enjoy them instead of slamming back 4 in a row in 2 hours. I'm sure most people probably don't notice or care. I have enough people who hate me for unforeseen or told reasons.

Speciation Genetic Drift - Double Plum. Wow fantastic Brett Saison. Poor head retention/no lacing as usual. Aromas and flavors of big juicy/tart/tangy plums, fruit skin/pits, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, lemon, lime, orange, red/green apple, red grape/wine, peppercorn, hay, straw, herbal, floral, wood, and grass; with moderate wheat, cracker, white bready malts; lighter notes of leathery/musty Brett funk, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate herbal, floral, woody, grassy bitterness; peppery Brett spiciness; and fruit tang/tartness on the finish. Medium-high carbonation, light-medium body, and fairly crisp/clean finishing. Balanced bready/grainy malts, sticky hops, and fruit tang/acids in the mouthfeel. Moderate increasing acidic/tangy/spicy dryness; no pucker/astringency. Refreshingly smooth, not overly tannic, zero warming 7%. Fantastic balance of authentic juicy plums, and Brett/Saison yeast complexity; with a clean pale/wheat malt backbone. Minimal residual sweetness with crisp dryness. Right on par with the rest of the Genetic drift series! 4.25

Always amazing. I'm just going to do the whole album now as it has been some time.

Good morning, BAs! Starting this morning with my favorite local coffee stout. These guys also deliver for free, so they have been getting a lot of my quarantine money.

I’m sure many have noticed, Ian. I certainly have. I’m trying to space things out like you are, too. I’ve never worked from home before, and it occurred to me that I could conceivably drink all day, every day. Instead I’ve been slowing down, trying to enjoy each beer more, and alternating drinking and sober days. Although I broke that pattern today! Eh, Easter Monday, so technically still holiday drinking :stuck_out_tongue:

Even with a couple of months of time on it, Big West still rises to the occasion. Still a great beer, one of my faves of the last 4-6 months.
That horse looks a little tired, if only it knew its own name. Gonna take it a little easier today on the beer. Could be my first and/or last. We'll see -- I usually cave in the afternoon, especially if I have to "Zoom" into administrative meetings.... but at least this trio of cats won't social distance me.

    Cheers!
