Well damn, looks like I am scrapping any plans to buy a dedicated looper pedal, delay or anything. Now that I got my PC working on a clean signal with a professional sound card, I am buying this MIDI controller to use in BIAS FX/Guitar Rig to control pedals on the fly. Far less of an investment with far more potential. If anything I just need more software to fill in the missing gaps.

Cigar City Humidor Series: India Pale Ale. Fantastic. Great rocky head retention/thick foamy lacing. Aromas and flavors of big tangerine, red grapefruit, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, mango, honeydew melon, berries, citrus peel/rind, wood, cedar, mint, peppercorn, pine; with moderate honey, caramel, toasted biscuit, light nutty malts; and herbal/floral/grassy hop earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, woody, minty, peppery bitterness; and cedar spiciness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; balanced creamy/bready/grainy malts, sticky/resinous/rindy hops, and wood tannins in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing resin/tannic dryness; no hop/wood astringency. Very smooth/soft, not overly aggressive/tannic; minimal warming 7.5%. Fantastic Classic C, Ahtanum, Amarillo profile. Very juicy, vibrant, dank, earthy hops; with balanced cedar and a bready Vienna/Munich malt backbone. Mild residual sweetness with lingering resin dryness. Will buy again on the next can release. This was 11 months age.

[IMG] Poured into a 16 oz canned shaped glass, canned 5/26. Pours a very attractive hazy orange with 2 finger sticky white head that leaves big streaks of lace as it slowly settles. 4.25

Smell is tangerine, papaya, lime, apricot, and grapefruit rind. 4

Taste follows tangerine, papaya, lemon lime, apricot, and grapefruit and has some bitterness on the back end. 4.0

Mouthfeel is medium, a tad sticky, soft gentle carbonation, and at 7% drinks bigger in flavor. 4.25

Overall a very nice NEIPA, tasting a bit bitter today, but I don’t mind that. 4

Drinking a new beer from the monopoly. Grosshandlarens Premium Lager. 5.7% abv. Pilsner and munich malt. Herkules, Perle and Spalter Select hops. 13% plato.

This is what happens when the monopoly asks for tenders and has to keep a level playing field, a wine importer ends up winning with a beer label that looks like it came out of microsoft paint an hour before it had to meet deadline. But let's see what we have here.

The beer isn't bad, in fact it's good. It's obviously made by one of the big 5 Swedish macros, I'm guessing the smallest, Krönleins. The aroma is malty and strongly bready, it smells distinctly of Munich malt, with some herbal hop notes. The flavor is malty and bready and very Munich malt forward. It also has an elevated but balancing bitterness and herbal hop flavor. There's a bit of a sweetness which helps give it a fullness, it's not a dry beer. The level of Munich malt flavor in this beer reminds me of a beer put out by Krönleins a few years back that didn't survive. I thought that beer was pretty bold in offering something which didn't already exist on the shelf but they're a brewery which has a hard time breaking out of the cheap beer game.

But here we are. The monopoly decided that they wanted a new beer in the Vienna lager/Märzen category and asked for tenders and this beer was offered and most likely won by way of a blind taste test. Except for the horrendous label I think this is a really nice Märzen type beer and it's reasonably priced as well. I will buy it again.

Enjoyable round of golf today, finished just as it was becoming uncomfortably hot.

I'm having a Wise Blood IPA from Wild Heaven Beer in Georgia. I've never heard of them, which is a selling point to me. I'm always up to check out someone new. This one has smells and flavors of orange, lemon and honey. It's quite hoppy and has a fairly light mouthfeel. I rated it a 3.96 which was a tick above its overall BA rating of 3.87.

Nightcapping by now with this La Trappe Oak Aged.

One of the best oaked beers (La Trape Quadrupel) as far as I know. Some people even call it the best beer in the World. Quality is always top notch, but taste varies. Since with every new batch other rather high end barrels are used. Best before date is far in the future.

    Cheers!

Five more days of covid learning to go. I dont know who's more excited, the parents or the kiddos. Perhaps a premature celebration (but a celebration none the less) with a Deschutes Fresh Haze. Cheers!
