Serving temperature is 47.8 degrees F

Massive three finger, dense , creamy white foam cap. Looks like I could float a cap on it. The mass of white recedes like a slow elevator, in mass and slowly descending. Lacings are dappled all across the glass and after five minutes it rests at a pencil thick rich creamy island. Yellow liquid is translucent with an occasional streams of carbonation . I believe the technical term that cicerones would use to describe the appearance is , “F**king awesome.”



First aroma is lemon citrus rind, whiff of yeast . I swirl and cover the glass and get lemon, coriander , cloves and fresh ground peppercorns . Third aroma is lemon , yeast and peppercorn



Taste is gentle lemon on the first sip followed by yeast and cloves with a hint of Peppercorns . Not overbearing but subtle and delicious



Smooth , very low sudsing mouthfeel , quenching

95 degrees and I'm drinking Cigar City Marshal Zhukov's RIS. 11.8% ABV.

A reprieve from the heat with some lunch inside. Sticking with the wheat beers for now. No caramel malt here though. Just wheat and pilsner.

It's definitely a pool day down here. Going back to some märzens once I polish off the last two Half-Lifes in the fridge.

 

Humble Forager Coastal Sunshine “Smoothie” Sour w/ tangerine, passion fruit, mango, and soursop. Really does mimic a fruit smoothie, with a touch more lactic acid, lemon-like, tartness due to the lactobacillus. Never had soursop before, but I can speak to the fact that the tangerine, passion fruit, and mango come through nicely. The mango sweetness moderately balances out the tartness from the fruit and bacteria. This side project of Forager Brewing has delivered the goods so far.

Disappointing amber from Yazoo out of Nashville. Actually tastier out of the can. I'm as big an amber fan as anyone, but I can't recommend this one.

On the other hand, I tracked down a copy of Funebre's Children of the Scorn, one of the first, if not the first, Finnish death metal albums.

 

It’s 4,000 degrees where I am. Time to drink 97 Pilsner urquells. None of this is an exaggeration.
