Well, you're a good man for atoning for your rant (which I apparently missed out on). And the sudden passing of a friend or family member can stun you. It's happened to me (both the sudden passing of a friend and my father - neither expected), so I understand where you're coming from.

I'll raise my beer and shot glass to your friend (and you) in a few moments...

For sure. Sorry for your loss. We get wrapped up in everyday occurrences and forget....then come the painful reminders.

Before I get back to work, some serious relaxation is in order.

Yeah, that's "wicked" hot for y'all, we're pretty numb to it. Our family in Saugus/Peabody/North Reading all have A/C. None of our family in NH do....Looking forward to a food pic! Cheers

A toast to @tasterschoice62 and in memory to his suddenly departed friend...the mortal coil never ends, but while we live, don't let it rule our lives...

Deschutes -- The Abyss - Rye Whiskey Barrels (2015)

    4.28/5 rDev -2.9%
    look: 4.25 | smell: 4.25 | taste: 4.25 | feel: 4.5 | overall: 4.25

Jet black body topped with a gorgeous light tan head, thick and creamy. Milk chocolate and cocoa on the nose; dark roasted grains and a very faint suggestion of coffee. The taste starts off with a rich American imperial stout sweetness, bittersweet chocolate, a touch of bitterness, and the rye sneaking up towards the finish and lingering long afterwards; some oak barely perceptible. Heavy body; smooth and velvety; oily and chewy; dully sweet overall yet with some alcohol dryness adding counterpoint.

I've had this beer for a while (five years), and I'm guessing some of the rye notes have faded with age, yet the beer still drinks beautifully and still offers a suggestion of the rye barrel aging. Ah, better late than never...

It’s been a while since I’ve had it, and my local packie was out of my go-to Malt Liquor.

    Cheers!
