Needless to say, that last beer was not enjoyed to completion. But hey, I'm thankful. I'm over here sampling. I enjoy the process. I don't need to finish them all. Moving foward. Video Armageddon from Fieldwork. I have a feeling this is one that I'll really enjoy. Please enjoy what's in your glass, too. Cheers!

...still working on knocking out beers sitting in the original garage as (much to my dismay, Mrs. BeerGoot wants to pursue changing it into more living space, i.e., contractors and big $$$)...

    His-and-hers BA imperial stouts.

BA Narwhal courtesy of @FBarber !

Tale of the tape: two bourbon barrel aged imperial stouts, one at 11%, the other at 11.9%. Yet, as soon as you pour it, you can tell the difference: DM is sweet and creamy on the nose, with a bit of coconut from the bourbon, but also notes of banana and sweet cream. Narwhal comes out swinging, with bitter roasty char surrounded by tons of bourbon and oak.

BA Narwhal isn't the most bourbon-forward imperial stout out there (it's why I don't bother to age it, really; it's already smooth enough), but the difference between these ostensibly similar beers is massive. That's partially due to the big, roasty, bitter RIS base Narwhal, but it's also the difference between aging a beer in bourbon barrels for only three months vice a year.

It's real easy, just go to postimage, upload a picture and then copy and paste the hotlink for forums (3rd from the bottom) directly into the text box here. Literally takes 30 seconds .

He’s right re: postimage. That’s all you have to do, and even a Luddite like me can work it (almost all of the time:sunglasses:)! Good luck!

Late to the game today but that's okay. Enjoying a robust DIPA from Bearded Iris. It's clocking in at 10% featuring Mosaic Lotus Cashmere.

Ha. I didn't even notice my feet or I would have cropped it. Both pups were adopted in January. They're doing great! They've been spoiled though. We're a bit worried they'll get depressed when school starts in two weeks and they're alone (with each other) all day. Thanks for asking. Here they are earlier today arguing over a bone that's under Lily. There's plenty of other bones, but like siblings, they both want the same one.

Done with work - listening to the forecasters hype up this tropical storm - we've seen worse from some of the Nor'easter''s we get around here. @SABERG - sounds like you guys will get the bulk of the rain out your way. Having a beer ...

My wife actually picked this up for me: been a long time since I have had it, certainly years. Always smooth, milk chocolatey, and creamy, like a Cadbury, or this:

So at first I thought I’d do the following side by side later this week, but both beers are really American IPA, and neither (imo) has the bitterness chops to be called West Coast style IPA...Jr. Z is using last night’s leftover beefy red sauce to make lasagna tonight, so I get a rare break from dinner prep...Bell’s Two Hearted vs. CCB’s Jai Alai:

I bought both 16 oz cans out of the cooler at TW. The 2H was canned 6/11/20, the JA 6/10/20...let’s go:

Both beers pour Amber with excellent clarity; JA has a big rocky off-white head, and 2H the same, if maybe a bit creamier; excellent clarity; heavy lacing; the JA has a tad more lace 1/2 way finished; visually, I can’t tell the two apart.

Both beers smell of caramel malt, pine and orange; more earthy hop nose as 2H warms; more citrus hop nose as JA warms.

Both beers have a semi sweet caramel malt base with light bitterness; the 2H bitter (IBU 55) grapefruit peel; the JA is a little less bitter (IBU 70) lemon peel; 2H has an earthy hop finish; the JA has a citrus hop finish.

Both beers have a medium light body, moderate carbonation, and no astringency.

Overall, at roughly 8 weeks old both beers taste kinda bland to me; neither beer has very much bitterness; the 2H has something in the aftertaste that I don’t mind, but could do without; I drink a lot of JA and it is far more vibrant fresher - probably true for 2H as well...I should do this experiment with fresher beers next time; bottom line, both beers are outstanding and I’d drink either again, and again, and...to me, they look identical, and at this stage in their advanced chronological status, they smell/taste/feel very very similar, again, to me. Cheers!

    Bell’s - 4.75 | 4.25 | 4.5 | 4.25 | 4.5
    CCB’s - 4.75 | 4.25 | 4.5 | 4.25 | 4.5
