Currently 117 degrees here in inland southern California. Holy crap - just went outside and it actually felt painful. I'm drinking a wonderful Marzen. Cheers!

Collective Arts Ransack The Universe IPA. This has been my number one, year round go to beer for the past three years. It’s consistently outstanding, always available and reasonably priced. A winning combination. Cheers.

The solution to that half full vs half empty problem is to just fill up the glass :beers:

    La Cumbre -- Oktoberfest

    4.24/5 rDev -0.2%
    look: 4 | smell: 4.25 | taste: 4.25 | feel: 4.25 | overall: 4.25

Crystal clear, dark copper body; fast rising carbonation; respectably thick and foamy bone colored head. Fine malt aroma; seems like a bit of crystal and some kind of roasted malt; a bit of nut-iike quality. Excellent toasted grain and roasted nut flavor; temperate hop bitterness to offset the malt sweetness; mild caramel. Medium body; gentle sweetness with some dry offset with the bitterness.

A very clean and criyesp Oktoberfest, very straightforward, and nicely balancing the slightly darker malt grains with a distinct yet appropriate hop bitterness. This is a classic beer style done right. No pretension, no gimmicks, and it shines as a result.

...and for @micada, this was a single pour head...

For any classical guitar enthusiasts, apparently Julian Bream passed away last month at age 87. And I haven't listened to 'Classical Guitar Alive!' for a while, and the latest program was a tribute to him...one of the selections by one of my other favorite classical guitar gurus, Leo Brower:

Tequila shot from the bottle, call it poor planning. The Torpedoes in the back are drain pours, bottled 12/19/19. I tried twice but it tastes like ass, the Litherman's doesn't.

    Tree House - Juice Machine

One hell of an IPA. The batch I had last winter was something extraordinary, and this isn't nearly as magical, but all-in-all, it's still an exceptional IPA. That Tree House ale yeast is so identifiable, and I love that little hint of bubblegum it lends. The lingering aftertaste of dry-hopped Galaxy and Citra is just... Hmmmm...Mwah! Great stuff.

Cheers beer friends! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Wanted to try this it being on cask. Not bad but nothing special. The 4.2 percent ABV made it more of a session type ale in my opinion. Could pick up some hop flavor but not a great deal. Put some more umph in it and it could be a winner

On a sunny, Summer Saturday, I went on a walking tour of Riverhead, NY breweries. Started with North Fork Brewing:

Ordered the Lager, Märzen, "Blond Stout," and Dubbel. All good. Then walked over to Moustache Brewing, where I ordered the Lager, Wit, Porter, and DIPA:

Again, all delicious. Finally, made my way over to Tradewinds Brewing, where they are not currently doing flights, so tried the NEIPA, Hop Ship.

Great day of sun and suds.

Tonight's Beer Tasting Lineup bring in the Oktoberfest beers!

    1) Leinenkugal's Honey Weiss, a nice and easy drinking honey-wheat beer. Too much corn and adjuncts here though.
    2) Fulton's Lonely Blonde, a nice and lemon citrus drinking ale that is perfect for the last bit of warm weather

    3) Great Lakes Oktoberfest, a fantastic and authentic style festbier that is one of the best American-made festbiers.
    4) Central Waters Oktoberfest, a Marzen-style and more intense than the Great Lakes. Definitely leans more American and toward an Altbier.

    5) Surly Furious IPA, a delicious and classic west-coast and pinecone flavored IPA from Minnesota
    6) Sabrotooth Tiger, a new limited-series from Surly with fantastic tropical and juicy flavors while maintaining a west-coast-style bitterness.

Winner: The winner of the night is Great Lakes Oktoberfest. It is an easy drinking, but has authentic festbier flavors. This is one of the better American-style festbiers.

Have you started Oktoberfest beers yet this season and have you tried these two?
