I did. She said that is sweet. They contain various K cup coffees, teas, and pot (I wish).

Nice cool evening here in CT, partially due to the smoke from the fires on the West Coast that has made its way east and kept the sun in check today. Cooler weather = stouts and porters. Grabbed this one from the fridge thinking (erroneously) that I had tried it before. Well done beer, but a bit too roasty for my tastes. Still enjoyed it, but I came in well under rDev.

My appreciation for this beer verges on delusional, because (for what it is) I think it approaches world-class. If it’s available, it will always be in my beer fridge.

    Hacker-Pschorr Oktoberfest Märzen.

From a bottle marked 05/21 L12505Q. Just appeared in local stores so should be fresh.

Poured into my shaker pint glass this beer is a crystal clear brownish amber shade with a very small head which drops immediately leaving only a bubbly ring and a film.

Nose is caramel, characteristic German herbal hop note, doughy bread and a sweet warm almost orangey note. Digging in there is a darker toasty note as well.

Taste is biscuits and caramel. Toffee. A minor nutty note. Very crisp bittering hops with a very light herbal flavor. As the beer warms I pick up an apple flavor.

Mouthfeel is really nice. Prickly effervescent carbonation followed by a medium body and ending in a very dry finish leaving you wanting another.

Drinkability is impressively high. The beer is very refreshing, subtle and restrained. I could easily see downing a litre maĂźkrug of this and not getting tired of it.

This is certainly one of the better Marzens I have tried. Tremendous drinkability and an excellent example of the style in my opinion.

Blackwater Draw Brewing (Bryan, TX) Franz Finsternis dunkel lager - nice local beer that is perfect with pork tenderloin.

Raspberries have much more flavor and fragrance than Blueberries and Blackberries. And they're definitely not cheaper than the other two. Most of the time Blackberries aren't sweet or fragrant, just tart and Blueberries are even worse. I'm strictly talking about store-bought, mass produced/grown berries. Not the stuff we remember growing up with, from our childhood. They work great for those thick smoothie beers. Passionfruit and Mango do as well.

EDIT: They also have a very nice tart "bite" to 'em.

One and done after my long walk, another Oktoberfest beer, this one from Chicago brewer Metropolitan called After-Burner.

Experience today consistent with my previous rating of good (3.48).

@superspak : I'm Old School, or perhaps just plain old, but if you are interested in the job, consider wearing a suit tomorrow.

Two for Tuesday easy to narrow down today. Happy Birthday Cannonball Adderley

I tossed my computers in the trash after cell phones and tablets improved to meet my simple computing needs. I may have added 6 months of longevity as a result!:joy:

Amazing the difference between the Hacker-Pschorr and a Spaten when enjoyed back to back...

    The Spaten:

    From a bottle marked 06.2021 L1710204.

Vigorous pour into my shaker pint glass yields a frothy ecru head atop a crystal clear dark copper body. Head slowly fades to a skim. A small amount of lace is present.

Nose is faint but I get grains, nuts and a hint of a skunked note.

Taste is fruity, nutty. Caramel. Apples. Doughy fresh bread. Hops are vague if present at all. Lacks the dry bitter finish that makes a top tier Marzen so refreshing and drinkable.

    Mouth is a creamy medium.

    Drinkability is decent.

This beer lacks the beautifully precise crisp flavor, feel and finish of a truly great German Märzen. It is a pleasant lager with some nice malt flavors but the lack of a sharp crisp hop finish really hurts it in my opinion.
