    Bell’s 35th Anniversary Expedition Stout. Expedition Stout has been around longer than I have been in existence and still holds it’s own as one of the best examples of RIS America can offer. It’s been a while since I’ve had it, so I had to pull the trigger on this slightly stronger version. It definitely lives up to the expectations. Roasted malt, peat, 90% dark chocolate, baker’s chocolate, coffee, hop bitterness and spice, rye bread, fig, prune, black licorice, tobacco, slight caramel, molasses, brown sugar. Alcohol warmth as it goes down, but not much to taste at all. High medium to low full body with a creamy, slick, slightly sticky, oily feel. Dry and bitter, but with just enough sweetness to balance it out.

    Most beers I’ve had recently that look like this have peanut butter, chocolate, vanilla, maple, and the rest of the kitchen cabinet thrown at it. Really nice to have a straight RIS for a change.
